How will you play your Operative?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 12:21 pm

For me I will be a pure stealth operative that would -Most of the time- operate behind enemy lines.

My main goals would be to destroy enemy buffing stations and turrets.

Most of the time I would be running with a medium capacity, medium damage, medium recoil, suppressed pistol.

Most of my time done will be close range melee-pistol combonations, that way the enemy will be right there for me to interrogate, then get a disguise from.

I will never touch any other class other then operative for two weeks playing the game, I will also use proximity stickies to my advantage when the enemy is planning to plant/defuse/capture/hack an objective point.

Also, I will try to maintain being as light as possible and be crouched and only use SMART... when it is smart to do so.

Just to be different (*puts on oversized hipster glasses*) I think I'll rock a Heavy Operative with the Hammertime shotgun and an assault rifle or Lobster. Primary focus will be on obliterating all of the Light Ops trying to sneak around and sabotage my team (Operatives can spot other Operatives when they're in disguise). Secondary focus will be on killing everyone I meet and putting up radar for my team. Should be fun.

Heavy Operative sounds... odd for me for some reason. It would help for getting the time to interrogate and get the disguises and running away from enemies but I seem to like the thought of a Pistol only operative (I will be using all other guns for other characters) As I said, I will try and take the most "in the middle" pistol with a suppressor and maybe extended magazine if possible. Mainly going to be a Melee/Pistol user (Just as I was in Borderlands)

And since the Operative has a few proximity and status inducing abilities, I will try to make my operative play as close to my Borderlands Siren as much as possible.

Seriously? Wraith was just explaining why it's too easy to be spotted while disguised. I figured some of the more obvious problems would be in effect but I never knew that. I think they should balance that somehow.

Heavy operative will be great addition to a squad moving along mowing down everything in their path.

I totally spaced on that since its common knowledge. Funny how disguises are seeming more and more useless.

If I were to be an Operative, it would be to hinder the enemy team. I could also draw their attention by turning their own turrets against them and then go John Dillinger on them.

Disguises aren't useless... its not like OTHER classes can see the operative's disguise.

Think about it, you are facing off against a medic and an engineer, but they dont know you are going to kill them, you may look like a medic going up to heal them or a soldier going to give them ammo, a engineer to buff them or even a friendly operative on your way to the enemy spawn to hack somthing, then you kill them both to their surprise because in reality, you are not one of them. and then a operative comes around and kills you svcks right? No.

You still got two kills due to your disguise, if you werent disguised the engineer and his rocket launcher would of blown you away.

I will be hacking turrent and objectives.
I will be fighting close range with an smg if im a light, because brinks combat is about getting up-close and personal.
If i am a medium operative i will be medium to close range with an assault rifle and hockler.

You mean Medic, not Engineer coming up to heal.

lol I sent my post out before proofreading it (Somthing I usually do to make sure the post makes sense, I don't really care about spelling errors) So I edited it so it would make more sense.

You do know your disguise drops when you start shooting.

Did know, did not remember/think of it.

But my point still does stand, it is not like the two other players will have enough time to react to an operative who is attacking them both (If they happen to both be light it would be even easier)

For me I will be switching up playstyles as operative

Some of the time I will be a light, Runnin' n' Gunnin', Sprayin' n' Prayin, Chillin' n' Killin while rushing toward my goals as fast as possible such as before my enemies can stop me

Some of the time I will be playing more of a scout such as interrogating enemies for radar, spotting enemies for the team, spotting other Operatives, and placing homing beacons on enemies. This strategy will make sure the enemies have no privacy

Some of the time I will be sniping, using SMART to get into good positions, staying away from the enemy and taking enemy life down to kill them or for my teammates to take their life down for my team to finish

MOSTof the time I will be effing with the enemies mind, Using Vietnam tactics. This includes ambushing, flanking, disguising, placing sticky bombs and I heard you could Feign your death which I will most certainly be using to my advantage. I will be hacking turrets, firewalling command posts, stealing enemy command posts meleeing people from behind and overall just making the enemy think twice before turning their backs on me

This pretty much sums up my whole playstyle... except of course I will be using the silent running abilitiy along side a silenced pistol or MAYBE if I find the engagement to be too long range, a silent light rifle.

I would definitely use silent running but I would have to see what the pistols are like in the game before I decide if they're a fave... If I do like them then it's silenced pistols all the way...

Light operative, as stealthy as possible and taking out a few in close combat with a SMG and pistol.

I voted: Stealth - Light - Long Range

Don't really have much to say on the subject of operatives, haven't looked much into them yet.
I'm trying to get as much info as I can for Soldier atm, then next week I'll focus on the others hopefully.

All I know is I don't have to worry about Wraith getting me from behind. I'm on PC.
