How I would like housing if added

Oblivion realms, to me, were always an untapped source of housing options. A little sliver or shard of Oblivion that could be customized to your will. Bright meadows, city scapes, dremora spire guards, etc.

What if each defeat of Molag Bal's forces gave you a sliver of his power, so small a piece by a Daedric Lords standards to be unnoticable. Like a trimming of a fingernail, how it was once a part but is still insignificant. But for a mortal, just a moment of such power can allow us to create our own shards of Oblivion.

So players are able to close Dark Anchors and fight daedra. Take the fight from Coldharbor back into Molag Bal's own keep. And each of these defeats earns them a bit of daedric energy, that allows the player to 'purchase' their own plane of existence.

At first, this plan is a simple 'teleport to' option with the inside of a hut in it. But as you collect more and more power, more and more options exist. You can expand the inside of this house and reshape it, turning it into a cave, a mansion, a keep, etc. And then you can reshape the outside, into meadows or mountains or rivers or streams, even into more fanciful plains at higher costs.

Would be nice, and wouldn't clutter up the game world.

I don't know if this is a given, but if I can't invite players in (friends list) I don't really see the point of instanced player housing.

I guess I always assume it's a given, as well. There's no reason for any type of housing if I cannot invite others.

That said, it's possible to setup mechanics to invite other players into your home even using 'one house, infinite doors' systems. Essentially, when any player accesses a door, they get a popup, not just teleported straight into their home. From this popup, they can go to their home, any home they are 'invited' to, any friends home that is open, or any random home that is open. The menu should prioritize the list in that order, to allow you to quickly sort. A small search bar helps, as well, so that you can find a player by name despite if a house has a million occupants.

Oooh that's a nice idea :) Means your imagination can go wild in terms of design, without the restrictions of physics or other mundane concerns.

Big resounding YES to this idea. It's very similar to how housing is done in RIFT btw, and housing is a very popular thing there.

People even open up their "slivers" to the public (they're made so you can set options about if others can move things or not, obviously you set it so people can't screw your work up) - and some of them are really amazing.
