How I would like housing if added

Post » Sat Mar 08, 2014 8:24 pm

I would like a mix between guildwars and DCUO way of doing it.

Instanced, but being able to pick its own location/type. Like being a small hut/house/cave, with being able to pick a location, would lessen the chain of players standing outside :)

Allow us to loot/steal items to decorate our house/cave/hut and display them anywhere in the house, could also be rewards from achievements.

Being able to display armor sets in full, maybe with their spec/talents setup, so swapping armor sets also changes your talents/spec to that of what you saved to that suit of armor.

Maybe getting to build on extra rooms/floors or bonus stuff like stables, blacksmith ect.

And we can pay NPC's to come work for us so our instanced little home seems more alive.

Now these are good suggestions for housing, the NPC suggestion I particularly like, I know that some passive abilities down the crafting trees give you NPC gather materials for you and send them to you. I also like the idea of a trophy display, from challenging bosses and such.

All that sounds cool - being able to choose the kind of home we live in, from cave to townhouse. Plus lootables in the open world we can use to decorate the house with. Also would like it if we could have pets running about the home (helping to make the place look alive rather than static).

From what I have seen in game, the Prophet's digs in Harborage look awesome for a player home.

+1. The same thought I had.

I also would like to see permanent houses for best players. Do you think I'm the one thinking to have one ?- NO, I'm mostly casual player. I just think that it could excite many people. Also people with perm house could give a room or chest for best friends.

Strange I never get feedback to this idea. It is like silence and people change subject.

I haven't played those games but as long as there's good player housing I'd love it. That's if player housing is added, of course.

But one emperor per three alliances makes so huge effect all talk about it and, hmm lat's say 50 houses per zone (so after each zone is added there would be more houses) is so little?

The decorations outside could also give some interestings effects.

I'm sorry, but I absolutely despised DCUO's housing/lair system.

* You were looting furniture off your fallen enemies. Beat up a goon and get a bed? Beat the boss and get a roulette table? Made zero sense to me.

* Nearly everything you put in your lair is cosmetic. You couldn't use containers for extra storage etc.

* They give you ten positions where you could put functional amenities (like your bank or a respec station) but you are only allowed to use four. Also, you cannot put these things in any other position other than these presets.

* All the bases had exactly the same layout with a different skin.

* Finally, being a ftp game, you get extremely limited choices in lair styles and have to buy others off the marketplace (which is the only way to get the nice ones).

If/when they do housing I hope that they let us craft furniture, have only appropriate "rares" drop from enemies (the minute I loot a table from a netch, I'm out), give us some flexibility with how we design and decorate our houses and never try and charge us extra for additional styles (which are just reskins) etc.

Only issue, when does mmo loot make sence? Pigs dropping armor and weapons in WoW for example :P

Could have the items in the wood craft.

lol. True, although I personally would prefer for all loot to make some sense (even if that does mean there's less of it). I think it was a bit worse in DCUO though. I was supposed to be a super hero, but if felt more like I was beating people up and stealing their furniture

And this is AH93's helmet, mantled on a Black maple plack with gold trim, he was emperor once. Once.

I want a place to show off and hangout. I would like to be able to build crafting stations to make my friends have a reason to come to my house, then I can shove my decorations in their face while they craft.

I liked housing in Vanguard (yes I'm one of the few people that loved that game), in that it was NOT instanced. Made it much more realistic.

I think they should sell land plots, and let people go all Minecraft up in here.

id like to be able to build-my-own, from a library of in-game components. with the ability to "hole" the ground and create a cave style house or simply a celler, theability to through the ground-plane, basically.

a tiny shack on top leads down to a sub-terrainian house

nods to Dexterous #19. i like it!

Dont make me say Ni to you

I'd want land on the Newbie Island, then I could sit there and smoke a pipe in a rocking chair and go "YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN! Blah! kids these days running about all willy nilly without their souls, back in my day when a necromancer tried to take your soul, we'd break our bonds and kick him over and summon our own daedra armies"

Same here with SWG housing. No housing system Ive seen in any MMO has come near it. Vanguard did look interesting but I never made it far enough to build a house.

If they do housing, I dont care if its instanced, but would be good if we can put any objects we want from our inventory in the house, and manipulate them how we want in the environment. Swords on walls and stuff like that. Some of the stuff people can do with that is just crazy.

Will never happen though, then the dev's have to add in game art for every item, and not just the icon.
