How would you go about invading Alinor?

Post » Mon May 06, 2013 1:39 am

As long as the Altmer exist, the dominion will return.

So what if the dominion comes back? Doesn't mean they'll have the same agenda the Thalmor had.

I dunno. I don't think I'd call for it. I think I'd lead the invasion and when we'd won, I'd finish the job. If someone is ballsy enough to try to kill me, good. If I kill him I've just ended all dissenters. If he kills me, Skyrim has a stronger High King.
This, dear Cider!, is what we call a Xanatos gambit.

No, it's what we call the rampage of a madman and it probably has a lesser chance of working than my unserious 'boat full of zombies' scheme.

A civilization is too complex and varied for you to simply make a generalisation that all of them share the very same mindset.

Your posts practically mean that even their newborn babies have the willingness to embrace a world ending plot already coded in their DNA.

The existence of a dangerous organization in a certain country does not justify murdering its entire population.

You're ignoring their society. They teach that they are the absolute best creatures that could ever possibly exist. They teach that they were once gods. The Thalmor will happen again if Altmer are allowed to exist.

Yeah because Nords are not racist bastards at all right? Its not like the Nords started a war with pretty much everybody on the continent so they build there former empire. They actually made there empire by giving sweet rolls to everyone, not killing them into submission or anything.

The empire as it is, does not stand a single chance of even conquering Valenwood and Elswere let alone try to cross the sea. They dont have the numbers to even [censored] with does two provinces, and they never will since the empire wont ever be a empire again.

The http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Ayleids referred to them as Salache, but they call themselves Altmer, or the "Cultured People".http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-TWE-1http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-PGE1P-0 In the Empire, "High" is often understood to mean proud or snobbish, and as the Altmer generally personify these characteristics, the "lesser races" generally resent them. Altmer confidently consider themselves, with some justice, to be the most civilized culture of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Tamriel; the common tongue of Tamriel is based on Altmer speech and writing, and most of the Empire's arts, crafts, laws, and sciences are derived from Altmer traditions.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-PGE3Summer-2http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-AODL-3 However, the Altmer's smug self-assurance of superiority can be hard to bear.

At the time the Crystal Tower was built in the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Merethic_Era, the Elves of Summerset had a relatively egalitarian society, though social stratification slowly developed into a rigid hierarchy of classes over the millennia.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-PGE3Summer-2 The Wise (teachers and priests) became the highest echelon, followed by Artists, Princes, Warriors, Landowners, Merchants, Workers, and enslaved beasts such as http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Goblin.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-PGE3Summer-2

It was suggested that the Altmer practiced eugenic infanticide, putting to death nine in ten of their newborns due to impurities, that http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer_Names are simply combinations of numbers in their own language, and that Altmer culture revolves around displaying social status.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-PGE1Ald-16 Later writings contain no mention of any of these practices; whether they were fabricated, exaggerated, discontinued, or covered up afterwards is not known.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-PGE3-17

The ancient Aldmer believed they are the relatively feeble descendants of the Aedra ("Aedra" roughly translates to "ancestor spirit"), aspects of those Aedra who populated the Mundus so that it might last despite http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Lorkhan's deception.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-TM-18

As their hierarchical society developed, the lower classes stopped worshipping their own "lesser" Aedra in favor of those claimed by their social "betters".http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Altmer#cite_note-PGE3Summer-2

Still no evidence that all Altmer want to destroy mundus otherwise the first two dominions would've had the same goals and there is no evidence to state that they would attempt this again should the Thalmor be killed another thing that furthers this is that we know there are altmer that disagreed with the Thalmor so no, not all Altmer believe that mundus needs to be unmade. What you are doing is basically stating a generalization as fact despite no actual evidence but something that was written in a propaganda book written by a person who most likely never actually stepped foot on Alinor.

The point being made is that Treng was generalizing the Altmer to have the same exact personalities and beliefs meaning we can apply the same generalization to the nords.

Altmer believe themselves superior, because they are.

Nothing wrong with that. Also doesn't mean they want to unmake Mundus as a general rule of thumb.

Except their actions don't make them anything like that. At worst you could generalize them to be war mongering xenophobes, not racists. I got his point and it was still inaccurate.

I didn't know that's what you wanted the source on. I'll look this up in a bit. I'm playing a game with friends atm.

Off the top of my head though, go check out the Thalmor from the college quest chain.

Yes, they did. They utterly crashed a massive Altmeri fleet so badly that only a single warship survived. Only intervention by the Psijics saved Alinor in 3E.

The best part about being superior is you don't care what the inferior races think.

If you think the Maormer would help mankind, then you are gravely mistaken. Just because they hate the Altmer does not mean they will ally themsleves with men. Judging by their complete lack of interest in Alinor for the past two eras... they likely don't give two septims worth a vehk what's going on in Tamriel.

It should be worth mentioning that from what information we've got, the old Aldmeri Dominion was not this nasty. I could be wrong, depending on how TESO depicts them, but I I get the impression that they're capable of being a lot better than this.

On the contrary, they once completely wiped it out except for one ship at that point and attacked the coast for centuries. They never actually conquered Alinor, but they certainly were able to land there. In fact, their last defeat was due to the Psijics intervening.

Also, as I recall the Tsaeci Navy was said to be very strong, but when Uriel V tried to invade Akavir, he never fought any Akaviri fleet. He fought, and eventually lost to the Tsaeci, but their supposed naval power was nowhere to be seen.

They agreed to help Potema, and she was of a mannish race.

I'm sure thats what you know who said too before they were proven wrong as well. And you know who I'm talking about. They're "superior" yet it was man who conquered all of Tamriel first.

Call up the Nerevarine on Akavir to use his crazy CHIM powers I'm sure he developed by now and Champion of Cyrodiil a.k.a. Sheogorath for his Daedric powers to save the world once again for old time's sake.

Fat Dovahkiin wins!
