How would you go about invading Alinor?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 3:02 pm

I'm not saying this will ever happen or should happen.

You are the emperor and have taken Skyrim back. You need to invade Alinor. The Dovahkiin has become insanely obese and is recovering from a heart attack. He is also addicted to sweetrolls. The Dovahkiin can barely move anymore and is just constantly eating at his house in Solitude. How do you go about the invasion of Alinor?

Take time to rebuild, plan out tactics, send in spies to understand what the political and military atmosphere of the Dominion is like, use the spies in an attempt to cause rebellions to rise up within the Dominion, gather the forces and naval powers at key locations around Cyrodiil, make a peace treaty with Hammerfell in which a temporary alliance is called forward.

A bunch of arrows to the backs of the Thalmor except for those who worship Talos, the Talos worshiping Thalmor should be spared because they would fight on our side, an assassin would defo help with the invasion.

1) Invade and liberate Valenwood, annex as Imperial province.

2) Build navy, use captured Dominion ships.

3) Load in the troops, invade Alinor.

4) Fight house-to-house until the islands fall or the Altmer oust the Thalmor on their own.

And capturing the Dominion ships

And landing those ships

WIth Skyrim alone I wouldn't.....

If it was a united Tamriel then we'd stand a better chance.

The point is the Dovahkiin is not in it and you can't use them as a weapon or arguing point.

Conquest of Valenwood and Elsewer. Re-intergration of Morrowind back to the Empire.

Then it's simply a waiting game.

I'll have superior economy, troop strentgh, unit diversity and the advantage of time.

I'll out-produce the Altmer.

Lol at those who still think the Empire is in any position to be conquering. You might want to first deal with those drug lords and bandits plaguing your own cities before you even think about entering Valenwood or Elseweyr.

I'd take the Nords, Redguards, Orcs, Breton and maybe Dunmer with me during my invasion of Alinor. The Imperials will just be left in behind in Cyrodill to do farming, cheap labour and provide supplies. No need to have them on the battlefield.

1. Find a way to the Falloutverse.

2. Get the Fat Man's blueprints.

3. Try to recreate a TES-esque Fat Man.

4. Guns blazing.

5. ?

6. Profit.

What? There is no Talos worshiping Thalmor. Perhpas you meant to say Altmer? Thalmor is an organization, not a race.

Yes. It would be impossible to invade the most powerful navy if you have two hostile provinces guarding the abeccean sea from the mainland. Elswewyr and Valenwood would have to be conquered in order to have the clearest route to Alinor possible.

Smart mortal. Having a small army of undead would also be a plus. A shame these primitve savages are afraid of true power. Their loss.

I'd start by paying having the Penitus Oculatus go undercover in Valenwood and Elsweyr and use the resistances that already exist there to foment a decent sized uprising. I'd quietly assemble my forces along the Northern and Western borders of Dominion-held Valenwood, and assemble my Fleet on around a series of islands due west of High Rock.

Once the revolt is well and truly underway, I drive south with my forces in a blitzkrieg-like manner until the capital of Valenwood is secure. At the same time, my fleet is beginning heavy ballista bombardment of the important governmental buildings in the coastal cities while my specially trained forces are making amphibious landings all over those same coastal buildings. I'd also have a cadre of Mages trained specifically in the schools of Illusion, Alteration, and Destruction ready to go teleport/levitate into the cities. their mission is to make surprise attacks against important Thalmor Officials and Generals so that once they do start to regroup, they are without most of their leadership.

Then with a major blow now made to the Dominion, my armies coalesce around the more major inland cities before they have a chance to fully regroup and hopefully break them before they have a chance to marshal their forces for a counter-push against the sieges.

At least that is how I'd work it if I were Emperor. If I were to lead Morrowind on a course of conquest, the scenario would change quite a bit.

  1. What does the Dragonborn have anything to do with this? There is nothing saying the Dragonborn is an ally or enemy of the Empire. You're only assuming they are.
  2. If you really want to invade Alinor, good luck. You need to get through Valenwood and Elyswer first.
  3. You need to probably spend a couple generations of men building a Navy that could actually get through the Dominion's Navy. Good luck. So if there is any sort of chance of invading Alinor, unless you're using mass way teleportation, you need to consider this first.

Just accept Dominion rule. It's for the better. Do so and the citizens will do Tamriel a favor and get rid of the Thalmor.

Taking out the Thalmor theoretically could just strengten the Dominion because their harsh tactics are not well liked by even their own citizens. Sure you can take out the ruling party, but doesn't necessarily equal that you have the means to take down the Dominion.

Accept that the Dominion is large and in charge, but needs to restructure the ruling and covert militant class: The Thalmor. Locate some dissedent groups, preferbly organized ones and offer support in the likes of finances, manpower, supplies (weapons, food, armor) and shared intelligence and help stage a coup to take down the Thalmor and unite the Dominion under a banner that is more acceptable.

I'm not the one with strategies.

So yeah, I would just play the barbarian warlord and bring destruction.

...

Or I could liberate Valenwood and Elsweyr first. That would raise more resistance against the Dominion.

Oh and maybe even involve Necromancy

''Dead Thalmor? Raise that fool, their army gets smaller, our army gets bigger MUAHAHAHAHA.''

How can you "liberate" Valenwood and Elsweyr from the Dominion when they were willingly part of it?

Talos worshipping what?

Valenwood is not willingly part of it, however Elsweyr is. If the Empire (or anyone) could prove that the Thalmor were not to be credited for returning Masser & Secunda however, they would probably try to withdraw.

I don't know what the islands actually called, but if you could take Skywatch and Firsthold, but the whole island, that would make perfect 'base' if you like, to harass the mainland with small skirmishes until you have enough support from the other provinces.

Valenwood isn't. Elsweyr is, but I'll have to convince those.
