How would you RP a Bosmer being dragonborn?

Post » Tue Nov 13, 2012 12:38 am

I want to make a second character to alternate playstyles, and because of the limitations of destro, I am thinking of an arcane archer. I would probably use a Bosmer for the first time ever in any TES game.

Anyway, this character would be used in the upcoming Dragonborn DLC, but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around a Bosmer dragonborn. What do you think? My main character is a Nord, so I would rather not use another Nord. I think I am going to use a female too.

This is how i roleplay Mine.

Hunts Animals for Food. You can only use this to buy Arrows/Bow and Arrows.

Alchemy For more Stealthy Potions.

Only Level Up in Archery Stealth and Alchemy

+ More that makes sense that doesn't enter my mind.

Oh. For Dragonborn... I wouldn't use Spears. Unless you are Hunting Mammoths are something. c:

Thanks for the reply, but what I meant was how would I roleplay a Bosmer BEING dragoborn? To me anything but a Nord just seems odd, except an Imperial maybe.

I've played a Bosmer character, and there isn't really anything particularly unusual about the Dragonborn being Bosmer, as opposed to being a Nord. There have been Dragonborn individuals from various races, and the player character does not even realize he or she is Dragonborn until you have gotten into the main quest a bit.

I'd say what is a more of a departure from playing a Nord is simply coming up with how your character came to be in Skyrim, how she ended up being captured near Helgen, etc. Has she lived in Skyrim for years, or just arrived, and if so, why did she leave Valenwood, what kind of economic background did she come from? You mentioned you want to focus on magic and archery - is she a trained archer dabbling in magic, or a mage dabbling in archery? A hunter living in the wilds, or perhaps a thief from the slum area of Falinesti (if there is such an area)?

Those kinds of background details can help to form a clear concept of the character, which can help you decide what kinds of actions she would take over the course of the game, or what kind of reaction she would have upon discovering she is a Dragonborn, etc.

Perhaps one of my favorite playthroughs is my Bosmer archer lady. This is the backstory I created for her: Part of a small anti-Thalmor rebel clan, her clan was hunted down leaving her the only survivor. She fled Valenwood in an attempt to escape Thalmor persecution only to find their presence in the Empire as well. She hears about an organized anti-Thalmor/Empire uprising in Skyrim and decides it's her best shot. She continues north and crosses the border near Darkwater Crossing, trying to get to Windhelm to connect with the Stormcloak rebellion. She walks into the Imperial ambush laid out for Ulfric and gets taken to Helgen.

Once in Skyrim she joins the Stormcloaks. A lot of people forget the Stormcloaks aren't only about Skyrim's independence. After the Civil War they want to go after the Aldmeri Dominion and destroy the Thalmor. This is my Bosmer's main motivation for joining them. After kicking the Empire out of Skyrim, she'll lead the charge on the Dominion and liberate Valenwood.

She's pretty much a stereotype archer. Doesn't use anything other than bows and some restoration magic. And shouts. She joined the Dawnguard too, so she has a sweet crossbow as well. Other than that, she built a nice house in Falkreath, has travelled with Faendal ever since she arrived in Riverwood and she has Beleval as a steward. Faendal and Beleval are Bosmer too, if you didn't know.

Personally I have no problems roleplaying a non-nord as dragonborn. A dragonborn can be any race, and it's not unlikely that even the 'First Dragonborn' in the upcoming DLC isn't a Nord. Being dragonborn is a gift from the gods, not a race-specific trait.

So yeah. Have fun. (:

My one run as a Dovakiin Bosmer I simply said my bosmer is the ultimate hunter since they possess the soul of a dragon, the ultimate destroyer. The destructive power of a dragon was carried over by means of better sight, hearing, and other traits.

My character hunts from high ground and uses the Animal Allegiance and Kyne's Peace mostly. Firebreath is only against groups of people or Spriggans. They use Bows as a primary means of combat but switches to a Dragon Priest Dagger. The armor is usually some Volsung with Scaled Armor.
