How would you compare "The Lone Wanderer" to....

Post » Mon Apr 19, 2010 4:22 pm

How do think "The Lone Wanderer" compares to the other Protagonists? Who in your mind, did the greatest things, and accomplished the most?
In my opinion, "The Lone Wanderer" accomplished the most, closely followed by "The Vault Dweller". "The Lone Wanderer" gave clean water to the wastes, discovered the location of the Capital Wasteland Mutant spawning grounds, destroyed Raven Rock, and fended off and pushed The Enclave out of the capital wasteland.

(Oh and The Lone Wanderer's accomplishments are from a Good Karma point of view!)

I haven't played the other two games so my vote can only go towards the Lone Wanderer.

Tough decision, they're all equally good.

Vault Dweller:
- Kicked mutant ass (intelligent, populous mutant ass) only a few months after leaving the vault, AND being the only one in California to be able to beat mutants at all. There's some balls for ya.
87 muties are nothing compared to the masterpieces (not including Harry) that Master created. They were intelligent, agile and strong.

Chosen One:
- Wiped out almost the whole Enclave when it was definately at it's strongest, in a few hours.
Other achievements include being a porm star, boxing champion, local hero and gigolo.

Lone Wanderer:
- Killed the Enclave. Nuff said. But truth to be told, it wouldn't have been possible without the Brotherhood. Without it, the LW would have failed horribly and got a rad death at gates of Vault 87.

I think I'll go with Chosen One. Or Vault Dweller? Can't decide.

It will have to be The Vault Dweller for me I think.
After all he did start it all off and set the events of the next games...

Vault Dweller founded Arroyo the tribal village in Oregon, and his grandson/daughter was the Chosen One.

In the D. C. area. He didn't wipe them all out.

In the D. C. area. He didn't wipe them all out.

He killed the master, lou and blew up the factory which created them.
The rest of the supermutants left parted into 3 groups and did there own thing.
One of the groups went to washington and reproduced.

And On Topic, The Vault Dweller Owned all to be honest.
He had the child of village elder who then had the child of the chosen one.
Shame they did'nt follow the same blood line in FO3.

I'd have to say the Vault Dweller or Chosen One, they both did things that severely impacted California.

The LW did a lot, he crippled the Enclave in the D.C. region but really the BoS is the only reason he did...

Vault Dweller, Lone Wanderer then the Chosen One.

Vault Dweller did so much with so little help, wiped out the master and his league of mutants, stopped the church of the flower, helped set up villages that become cities.
Without his father and the team of scientists the water purity project wouldn't be there to switch on and the brotherhood of steel helped against the Enclave.
Chosen One did take down the enclave at their own home base, but what was built? Only destruction, the others created. Oh unless you count pormo's.

I agree with everything Pistolero said, but I choose The Chosen One. Sure the Vault Dweller started it all, but he didn't finish what he started (In a way), and The Lone Wanderer was just a teen during the hight of his anxed period, and thought it would be fun for a laugh or two, to kill some Enclave and work with the Brotherhood of Steel?

But that's me. :P

Maybe add the Warrior (protagonist of Fallout Tactics) to the poll? :)

I vote for the Vault Dweller, though.

Vault Dweller for me. His action made it to a point where it drive last surviving Khan to insanity and blood thirst on revenge, NCR erected a statue base on the Vault Dweller, and if anything else, a god-like figure to some NPC.

I'm going to jump at the Vault Dweller bandwagon since he has done so much that has affected California. The Chosen One really just destroyed the Oil Rig and became in charge of Arrayo. The Lone Wanderer discovered the source of mutants in a few days (even though Lyons had been fighting them for 20 years he still had no clue where they came from :meh: ) and destroyed the West Coast Enclave. The LW has super strength and Neo like skills since he could, fresh from the vault mind you, kill everyone by himself unlike the other two. But I think that the LW is really Young Chuck Norris :P .

Vault Dweller. He made NCR, and without him, the super mutants would probably thrive. He killed the master and all that. Chosen One is "ok".
Now even though i voted for dweller, the lone wanderer is good. He gave water, he killed the east coast enclaves! He also did kill the president, well maybe not him, but the BOS.

Yes, the Fallout 3 super mutants were created in Vault 87, but the Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics ones were created in Mariposa.

The Fallout series so far is a ripple effect, so I voted for the Vault Dweller. Without the Vault Dweller, Fallout 2 and Fallout 3 likely wouldn't have happened as the Enclave would have been successful the first time around, and everyone in D.C. would be dead well before the Lone Wanderer is even born because of the modified FEV. This is of course assuming that The Master would have been wiped out by the Enclave eventually (which he probably would have been) allowing the Enclave to execute their plans.

The Chosen One and Lone Wanderer exist only because of the Vault Dweller's accomplishments, so I'd say that he is the most accomplished character in the setting thus far. The Vault Dweller isn't responsible for the Chosen One's and Lone Wanderer's actions of course, but both of them are his legacy more or less even if he isn't at all related to LW.

I voted for the Chosen One, he certainly influenced a lot of places - VC, Redding, etc. Although the Vault Dweller's quite close in my mind.

The Lone Wanderer. Escaped a vault at 19, gave water to the wasteland, can get shot with a mini-nuke to the FACE and live (like chuck norris), took down a whole city (the Pitt).Oh, did I mention he MURDERED THE FREAKIN' PRESIDENT! Now thats some REAL anarchy for you! :mohawk:

Yea, I Know.

Listen:
In Fall out 1, There was a man who was knocked into a FEV tank and formed into some mutant type creature, after months surviving by absorbing things and making his IQ jump up each time he absorbs. He then got bored of that and decided to Test with this FEV Virus and instead of Absorbing people who wonder into the base he decided to Dip them into FEV with dogs, rats and all sorts which forms many types of Mutants like Centaurs ect.

He dipped in many humans and they all lost there minds after being dipped, Some managed to keep there Intellegence but few did. After that The Master Formed his own army of super Mutants with that came lots of normal people to worship him like a god they found them selves as "Children of the Cathedral" So he could get his ideas and beliefs around the HUB and then the world (hehe).

After this a man named The Vault Dweller was orderd by his Overseer to find The Master and kill him to stop the mutant threat on Vault 13. He did that and killed the master this ending the threat, But that was wrong.
Three groups formed from the mutants Some went to D.C, Some just wondered around and the others stayed to fight in California but died out.

The Mutants found a area which tested in FEV (Vault 87) and decided to use that as there breading ground.

Vault Dweller:

he was the first of these guys to come out into the wasteland (some 84 years after the bombs) so he probably had to face the worst radiation sh*t
