How would you have liked to see Skyrim end?

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 8:30 pm

I don't mean it in the sense of 'why our character, why not someone else'. I mean what reason is there for Akatosh to stop with us; what reason is there to no longer create dragonborn. Which leads to the next question...

Well, that was what i originally thought. But it doesn't seem to be the case. Because why was Reman Cyrodiil born with the soul of a Dragon? Why was Tiber Septim? There was no Alduin to stop in their time.

Because the dragonfires keep up the barrier between mundus and oblivion and they need to be relighted until Martin became the avatar of Akatosh and became the stone that keeps the barrier up.

This. The ending was just underwhelming and disappointing. Would have preferred a real boss fight between Alduin and the Dragonborn one on one. Not with three other random characters we barely knew.

But does that explain why our character is the last dragonborn? And does it explain why those two were dragonborn?

...Because Alduin needed to be stopped and a dragonborn was the only one who could stop him.

That explains why our character is dragonborn. But not why he is the 'last'.

I would have preferred a glorious death or becoming a Greybeard over Mora's Champ. The LDB is the closest thing to an Aedra we got to play. It's kind of anti-climatic to end up a pawn of the opposing team. I'm being general here I know Aedra and Daedra don't work like that.

Because without the dragonfires or Alduin returning there is literally no reason for another dragonborn.

Lot of loose ends. i'd like to leave Skyrim in goods hand before being captured to whatever Daedra owns my soul.

There are still too many Thalmors roaming aroun, the unresolved disputes with Hammerfell over the border, the Orcs...

Skyrim had lot of untapped potential... And a receptive market.

I was reading too much, maybe, into the idea that a dragonborn was sent into the world in times of great need. I was thinking "why would that suddenly stop?"

But the reason you give makes a lot of sense. After all, it's not like a dragonborn appeared every time a 'hero' was needed in the world.

not as many as in Skyrim.

Daggerfall had a proper ending (multiples!), in Tribunal Vivec gave a closing speech, in Oblivion the guilds were well fleshed out and the MQ came to a proper ending.

I would have preffered to go deeper in the whole dragonborn vs alduin. To truly defeat him or end in a stalemate.

I am dissapointed on the amount of lore and story we got this time around. And the depth of the game didn't get deeper but wider with both dlc's.

I feel like the devs went on the road of "story? Pffff Look! You can kill stuff! With Fire!" rather than provide us with more ways of our character development.

On the other hand. Modders are freed from every mod-breaking patch and they can now focus on stability.

I hope that they will try to improve in the next game.

As for me. The showdown at the end of Dragonborn was anticlimactic, becuase it wasn't a battle of two powerhouses but an obstacle that you stumble on. And the "reward" you got from it pales in comparsson with the satisfaction of Morrowind's and Oblivions dlc's. That is my take on this.

Now it is all over, I remember a thread I made about how powerful our player character in Skyrim would be compared to the other PC's in previous games. If we take the Champion of Cyrodiil before he became Sheogorath, I would say the Last Dragonborn is far and away the most powerful.

What do you think?

Eh. I'm not amazed, but I'm not disappointed. It's done /shrug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I wish we could have brought the focus back to Skyrim, crowned the High King, and paved the way for a period of peace and prosperity in Skyrim. It would've been a nice conclusion to our epic journey. But it wasn't to be.

Dragon and Dovahkiin are power-hungry and would do anything they can to gain power, even if it is becoming someones pawn. But actually, Akatosh would be the one claiming the soul, because he's automatically entitled to it.

I would have preferred to side with Alduin and help devouring the world, becoming a God in the Yodukan Pantheon.

I would have liked one more DLC and have that leave it open ended for the Lore to close up. A DLC where the Empire/Stormclaosk/Dragonborn go to war once more with the Dominion. End it there and there would be plenty of tales of heroics in battle for the existence of Man and their God. Had they done that there would have been plenty to fill in with the release of the next Elder Scrolls game and it's Lore.

But whats done is done and there is nothing we can do about it. Bring on Fallout Bethesda! Lets go.
