What is your view on the way the story has ended?

How would you have ended it?

The Main quest ends on a pretty sour note, and not just because I had to work around it via console commands due to a bug. It seems anti-climatic and it does a terrible job at telling a story. Had it not been for what I'd learned before I never would have known he was the first Dragonborn.

I'd have liked to see a quest where the Dragonborn dies after really long battles. Then depending on that characters affiliations you end up in Sovngarde, Hircine's Hunting Grounds, Coldharbour (vamps) and such like. Just for the char to die, screen slowly fades to black and then... then you awake in [location]. Would be a nice end game I'd think. /happy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />

I had small hopes that some new DLC would have added new lore to the Medes and the war on the whole. As far as how the Dragonborn's story ended, it ended well enough for me.

The whole misconception that the Dragonborn replaces Miraak needs to be cleared. All Daedra get followers through lure and invitation. Ol' Herma-Mora can't simply decide you're his champion and that's final. Think of Hircine, Molag Bal, Boethiah.

I just wished we found out why our character was 'the Last Dragonborn'.

I like to think I created for myself a very satisfying end. The Civil War was ended, the end of the world delayed for heavens knows how long, and my Battlemage became a lovecraftian wizard, and eventually just retired to Markarth to his Orcish wife and kids, and the pet fox.

Doesn't quite have the same feeling though to how I finished Morrowind...SItting on the steps of Vivec's place, and drinking a bottle of Flin, and uttering "Well...that's that."

We do know why, because Alduin needed to be stopped and only a dragonborn could do that, there is no other need for a dragonborn.

I'm not happy with the way Dovahkiin's story ended because it didn't. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I would have simply provided some closure on what he did after he killed Miraak and Alduin. Fight the Thalmor, drive them out of Skyrim, become a trusted aide to the Emperor/Ulfric Stormcloak, and when his time was over he was chosen by Akatosh to be his divine servant, becoming something of a demigod who would guard the interests of Akatosh and the Divines.

There, that would have sufficed for me.

Mantling Alduin and bringing about the end of the Kalpa.

How's that for closure?

We have no way of mantling Alduin because we have to walk like him until he walks like us

From what I saw in the main quest, we walked like Alduin quite a bit. Just need to work on that last part.

Even so we technically didn't kill Alduin and we didn't become the king of snow-throat nor did we start a cult. Alduin was banished back to akatosh, he will return one day when it's the end of this Kalpa and a new one needs to be made because it's Alduin's destiny to end the current Kalpa for a new one to be made.

I didn't see Tiber Septim kill Lorkhan.

Because you don't have to kill the entity you are mantling to mantle them and Lorkhan is already technically dead, he was way before Tiber was born.

That is ages old, I read that book way back in Morrowind.

I just wanted them to conclude the DB story somehow. i didn't care about a civil war dlc or a thalmor one, cause i knew it wasn't gonna happen. but finishing the dragonborn journey would've been nice. instead of being stuck with Mora. ah well at least my dunmer can now sip some Sujamma and go retire on Raven Rock for eternity.

Then why point it out that as if it was a made mantling Alduin impossible?

Also, we've seen characters mantle living beings in the past as well.

But it hasn't ended, though.
Seriously, you can carry on playing it pretty much forever, just like Oblivion, and Morrowind, etc... before it. Just use the thing between your ears.
If you're on PC you have a growing bucketful of expansions and mods and if you're on console well, Oblivion and earlier players haven't had DLCs for years and they seem to do ok.
There's so much rage and wringing of hands, face it people it's a first world problem. It's not as if the plot was ever that important anyway, it's only ever been something you could do if you felt like it...

Beth characters always go out with more fizzle than bang, and that's how it should be. Skyrim was my favorite game, and I seriously doubt it will be shelved for long now.

I'm perfectly happy with Beth's best game to date!

I'm not happy with the way it ended. The entire quest itself was horrible. I would've preferred fighting Alduin at the Throat of World followed by ripping his heart out.

Well, it's a relief to know that there won't be anything else so I can finally end my character's story without worrying about having to change it to accommodate a new DLC.
But no, I can't say I like how it's ended. Too many loose ends were left, much more than usual.

Anyways, from the perspective of RP, this is great. My Dragonborn, having to sacrifice so much of his happiness to keep the people of Skyrim and the rest of Tamriel safe, decided he was done. He'll stay at the Throat of the World with Paarthunax to meditate for a few years then go off to explore Tamriel. Hermaeous Mora be dammned. He'd probably kill himself before he'd help that abomination again. In the end, my RP went just as planned: take an Idealistic Hero type and utterly break him.
