How would you make Fallout better?

Post » Tue Mar 02, 2010 7:01 am

First of all I've read that there is a possibility that Bethesda will only be allowed to make one more fallout game. I think this is BS because now that they've made this franchise tons of money the people who sold it out want to take back over. I could be wrong thats just what I've read.
Anyway new engine for skyrim is going to look great on Fallouts. What I'm pissed about with these next gen bethesda games is that, there just isn't unique items laying around the random places you can explore there was in Morrowind. I hope its brought back in Skyrim. But Fallout needs that just as much. I get sick of walking into houses or extra vaults, with nothing cool to show for it. I feel like they lost that and its made things more dull. Its like what the [censored] is the point of making a random ass house you can go into if you theres nothing worth while but a pilot light and a brahim steak.

I still think leveling could use some work, New Vegas did it better in the fact that there was 30 levels right off the bat, but you only get a perk every other level.
Next Fallout needs to be awhile off, so there isn't a bunch of glitches and bugs like Fallout NV had.
Also whos had enough of these metro tunnels, and blocked off routes because of city rubble, I sure as hell have, thats why NV was better. It would fine if there was only about 3 metros in all. So I don't get all this New York city bole[censored]. That is what it would be like all over again. I personally think that it shouldn't be just one location, it should be like 3or 4 different locations that are quite a bit bigger than Point Lookout but not as big as New Vegas map.
And after mainquest you need to be able to continue and do side missions.

Same gameplay I think except grenades should be a Right Bumper weapon that is always there and you need to be able to sprint.

Same as guy above, along with an intact control vault. And you're the first outsider to make contact with the Vault dwellers.

Return of more things from Fallout 2, such as Sentry Robots and M72 Gauss rifles. The levelling/lock pick systems.

Taking it back to the direction that it was going. Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas were going somewhere.

Bring back the Wattz.

Less Vaults, but make them more interesting.

Include other fallout shelters when Vaults with their backgrounds aren't necessary.

Map nodes, possibly with sandbox nodes (and it's the only way I can see cars being implemented).

Show where everything comes from and explain why settlements are located where they are (trade route/water source/etc).

Show the result of your actions during the game (as in when you help the BOS get back on their feet, sending out patrols etc, you actually encounter BOS patrols on occasion).

Allow the player to use honorary titles given by certain factions (you can be made a BOS Paladin, but in NV you can't do anything with your new title).

Allow factions to have their own radio station, telling you the news from their POV, with heavy propaganda (think of it as something like FedNet from Starship Troopers).

Allow you to create your own radio station, using music from your HD.

move it towards about 50 years after teh bombs fell, more of a survival game, more varied weapons, nv had a lot of cool guns, use actual names instead of generic ones. Better fps controls, make special more important. Make perks differnt that skill boosts,

when i say more fps stuff, i mean gernade button, instead of switching them out, maybe a sprint feature, make cover more important, make guns way more deadly, it was stupid shooting someone in the head ten times.

I likes the idea of moving it closer to the time the bombs fell.

Possibly when there are no trully set factions. Everything is still fairly chaotic with a few settlemetns popping up here and there, trying to take each other over.
Have it be where you play a pivitol role in either one of several new (but obviously short lived) factions , or on the sidelines (not necessarily as a main quest component, just gamespane lore) of one of the pre-established factions as they are becoming that faction.

Map nodes, Mark Morgan, more quests with many different choices, SPECIAL with much more influence on my character and I'm a happy camper.

What I truly want (im soo gonna get flamed) is a huge and I mean HUGE wasteland, like when you TCL beyond the gates at mojave outpost. And this huge wasteland should also be kinda empty, every now and again you'll run in to a ant nest ands tuff like that. This huge empty place would actully make hardcoe mode hardcoe and put some space between the town's. Ofc fast travel would be there and maybe if someone tells you where a place is you could fast travel there right away. This place would also make it possible to have cars (im assuming we are later in the timeline and some cars have been repaird) or vechiles. And by making this place big i mean really really big, too big. If you try to walk from one town to the next you'll die from starvation.

I realize my dream will probably never happen sense no engien could handle it (BUT MINECRAFT HAZ IT?!?!?! Kidding) but does anyone see how awesome this would be :(

Edit: Thinking some more about this and it's not impossible. If the wasteland is not filled with creatures, stuff etc then the engien would not struggle as much :o Oh god im hoping for something like that for the next fallout! D:

( Now that i had some time to think on this, I think i can say as a Fan who has played all four of the major games.......That nothing major should be changed really, except for bigger sandbox exploration maps like in Fallout 3 that are actually post apocalyptic, keep the modded weapons and variety of weapons and armor like in New Vegas, keep working on the AI's of the Companions, make all the companions enjoyable instead of this 50 percent enjoyable 50 percent i want to leave them alone, Work on the Story more, not so linear in the beginning like in Vegas, but not as narrow as Fallout 3. Have in Factions like the Brotherhood of Steel(it is time for them to have a major appearance again, last game was minor) Talon company, or other colorful factions such as so, the Karma scale as that is very enjoyable, SPECIAL, VATS, the same set of skills as in Vegas if not tweaked out more if possible, Real time combat was fun as it kept my reflexes up and relieved a lot of stress for me, and in a environment that is NOT the west coast or anywhere west of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, or the Dakotas, as i am sick of having games in those areas.

If i have more to add, i will add it, but that is good enough for now.)
