you press the ` key to active the console (top left of keyboard on UK board). Codes? No idea yet, no-one has the game!

They should be similar or identical to Fallout 3 it is the same game engine after all.

hmmm.. except a lot has changed, I wouldn't expect the same codes to work 50% of the time. Just have to wait and see.

You can learn most or all of them with the help command if they didn't change it. ex:"help ___" brings up what ever has ___ in it.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/39-fallout-3-cheats-hints-and-spoilers/

You can find all of the information you need to cheat in fo3 here. the specific codes for New Vegas are still unknown right now but you can be assured that they will become available shortly after the game is released. The G.E.C.K. is to be released with the game so all of the new item codes will be on your machine. A little work and it will all become clear.

I would suggest not learning the cheats until you have played through at least once. Can't see why people need to cheat their way through a game. Finding the good stuff is way better than just typing it onto your character. Of course running around with a limitless supply of bottlecap mines is fun.

I'm sure most of the basic commands will carry over. The item codes will likely change though.

I'd save the cheating for at least playthrough four though. OH and even when you do cheat don't use MoveToQT, it breaks scripts.

I agree, although it comes in handy for getting some of those unused weapons like Wanda and Pa's Fishing Aid. Both of which were excellent weapons.

I have never understood the word "cheating" when used to describe an action in a singer player game. Who are you cheating?

I use the console to get unstuck from rocks or to complete some glitched botched up quest or when all else fails. I generally don't use them just for the heck of it. If it's cheating myself to get unstuck from somewhere...then I'm a cheater.

Common thought is that you're cheating yourself out of the challenge by using things such as godmode. However, in Fallout games at least, there's more to the console than just cheating...

Man I do this stuff all the time. Head of State bugs out so much I have the console commands needed to bump-start the script memorized. I hope I won't need the console for that in NV, but I'm glad it's still there just in case.

And if someone enjoys playing in God mode then would they not be cheating themselves by not doing so? I mean, some folks seem to enjoy that. Personally I like leveled scaling so I never reach that point but others really enjoy working to get there and still others like to start there and stay there.

To me the beauty of a single player game is that you can do things how you enjoy them.

I enjoyed my godmode rampages, sure. Pure, mindless, cathartic MIRV violence has it's place, and is quite impossible without god mode. But playing the whole game that way was boring.

Any definate info on what the codes/cheats are for fallout new vegas, and how the console is activated in this game? I know it has been guessed that the method of useing the console an cheats/commands
will be the same as it was for fallout 3, but I am trying to find out for sure and also locate item codes an numbers.

It was mentioned that the cheats and pc in game console commands and abilities would probly be the same as FALLOUT 3's cheats and commands were, BUT, nothing has been said for sure or verified in this regard.I VERY

You might try to wait until people actually have the codes, since you can't get them from inside the game, and there isn't any back-end software released yet.

Go look up the Fallout 3 Console Commands - they're the same. I experimented with a handful of them last night & confirmed that a number of them do work. FO3 Perks that are in NV have the same code - I didn't mess with item codes yet, as I'm now at work.

I would love to know the item codes. My incredibly dashing Pre-War hat was broken during combat.

Does anyone know where to find another? Or how to repair it?

some codes are fairly universal, as in the same since oblivion:
clicking on a door or chest (with console open) and typing unlock or activate for example
clicking on an npc and typing kill/resurrect for another example
the system for getting specific weapons/items is the same as TES4/FO3 but you'd need to wait for someone to find the ID number for each item to use that.

Any other codes you'll have to try out or wait for

If you want ALL of the item codes, go download the GECK - they're all in there.

If you study up on the Fallout 3 console commands, there's a repair command in there somewhere.

Here's a trick as well... use player.showinventory. But because your inventory will probably scroll, it'll only show the items you most recently picked up. So toss the hat, pick it up, use showinventory, and there's your item code. Go from there.

Off the top of my head, the following codes should work in Fallout: New Vegas like they did in Fallout 3.
Let me know if they don't.

TGM = Toggles God mode, otherwise known as let's lob nukes around all the time. :)
Also gives infinite ammo and AP.

TCL= Toggles Clipping, which allows you to walk through objects if you get stuck.
I used this a lot more in Morrowind. :)

What's the command for setting your max inventory weight again? I think that works in New Vegas.
Also,
AddSPECIALpoints should work. I think that's what it's called too.

tgm turns godmode on/off (unlimmited ammo and health).

BEWARE THOUGH, using codes disables the ability to get Steam achievements... I ran out of ammo at one point and used godmoe until I built more up, and I havent gotten and achievement since... not sure if it lasts forever or for that entire save or what, but heads up.
