How do you arrange your items?

Instead of just throwing everything in one container in my house, I find it better to organize my items. So how do you organize yours?

In my Tenpenny Tower Suite I keep all clothes, hats, and glasses in my wardrobe, in my footlocker I keep my weapons and ammunition, in my safe I keep junk, food, drink, chems, and some rainy day caps, and in my desk I keep 1 of each skillbook, pre-war books (the blue ones around the wasteland and the purple useless ones you can buy from Lydia), every clipboard, holodiscs for the house items, blue and red pass cards, metro tickets, pencils, and bobbypins.

Super duper mart is my warehouse

The room by the front....liquids in the fridge....other foodstuff in the first shelf of boxes, sorted by packaged foods, animal flesh, and foods with stat power

The other shelves have each box containing the items to one type of makable weapon

In the kitchen the boxes contain household items, sorted by type(plates, utensils, pots and pans, appliances, other;flour et al)

foyer in front of the back room....ammo boxes sorted as ammo, grenades, mines, cans, bottles

In the back room along the far wall all miscellaneous items sorted by sporting goods, garden equipment, tools, etc.

The medicine cabinet has medicine <_<

The ammo boxes next to the medicine cabinet sorted as magazine and skill books(extras), unique items.

The racks of shelves just inside the door are where all the armor and weapons go. sorted by type(merc armors, power armores, reg armors, pre-war outfits, vaults suits, etc.....1h melee weapons, 2h melee weapons, 1h small arms, 2h small arms, rifles, auto-rifles, big guns, energy weapons, unique melee weapons, unique guns, etc.

In my Megaton house i store all my clothes and armors in the locker by the door, all my weapons go into the the locker on the other side of the room along with misc stuff and some aid items like the skill books (that if i did the math for my current build right i should'nt need any to max out all my skills) and stealth boys, all the food and drinks i pick up go in the refigirator, and during the few times i go to clean out the containers of stuff i don't use i put everything i wanna keep in the desk upstairs to avoid acidently selling any of it.

I've done this for every char i've made and the only time theres a problem is when i end up stockpiling like 30 of the most common weapons then looking for a certain weapon becomes a pain because then i have to drop what i'm doing to clean out my storage to make it more managable.

I have labeled lockers for Pistols, Rifles, Energy Weapons, Explosives, Power Armor, Light Armor, Clothing, Vault Clothing and all that stuff so everything is sorted into the appropriate lockers. All Raider armors go into a spare locker, Unique Weapons and Armors are sorted into yet another locker.
Custom weapon components are kept by the workbench in boxes, sorted alphabetically. I also keep cameras, tin cans and read skill books in there. Various clutter items like plates, spatulas and plungers go into the bottomless toolbox.
Food and aid items I keep in the fridge in the kitchen.
Clothing and armors I wear are kept in the bedroom sorted in different cabinets- one for combat and one for special occasions.
Teddy bears go on the bed.
Other toys go into a special toy cabinet.

In my Megaton House:

I put all of my unique items/weapons/armor in the lockers by the door.
All of my regular items/weapons/armor go in the lockers just my the fridge.
Food and beer go in the fridge.
Hard liquor, shot glasses and cigaretttes just randomly go on any table.
Schematic items go in the desk in my bedroom.
Drugs go in the filing cabinet by my bed.

I use a mod (Maintenance Shed) as my primary home. So, in clockwise fashion I have:

Locker #1 - ammo
Locker #2 - 2H weapons
Metal Box (on top) - Food, drinks, water, misc consumables
Burlap Bag (on a metal shelf) - stealth boys
Metal Shelf - a place to display things
Footlocker (bottom of shelf) - 1H weapons, knives, etc
Toolbox - scrap metal, anything used to make things with schematics or similar
Metal Storage Closet - armor, clothing
Briefcase - pre-war money, alien gems, metro tickets
File Cabinet - toys, odds and ends
Desk - cigs, pencils, pre-war books
Medkit - all medical supplies like blood packs, simpaks, etc

I don't remember how I managed in the Megaton home, I think there are only 4 storage containers there, so it was a lot messier.

I think the best place for organized storage is in your megaton house. The megaton house is simply earned by disarming the bomb in Megaton. My things are stored as such, misc. in one locker weapons and sometimes ammo(because ammo has no weight) in the other, and food items containing rads in the fridge. Upstairs i keep my clothes in the filing cabinet and my meds in the desk right beside it. Generally my meds don't weigh anything so ill just keep it in my inventory. A good way that I found to pack light is to take your travels day-by-day. When you feel the need to go back to your house and rest, don't rush into it. Go into your house and unpack everything that you have on you with weight, go to bed and try to wake up at the earliest daylight time to have a longer day of daytime. when you get up grab only what you need and look at what kind of mission you'll be completing that day. When your done with the missions you want to do that day just rest another night. I hope these tips helped thank you :wavey:

I do it similar to you, Sesame; all clothing and armour in the wardrobe, and weapons and ammo in the footlocker. If I have a special weapon I won't be using on the field, I'll put it on display.
