how do you backup incase of crash : V

How do you backup your saves and reload them in case of crashes. PC version of course

Your save games are located in "C:\Users\Name\Documents\My Games\Skyrim", just copy the folder and place it somewhere safe.

I started a game on my wife's computer and now I want to play it on mine. I copied that directory but when I start skyrim it just looks like it's a brand new copy without any saves.
I installed both games from the collector edition's dvd
Any ideas why?
