How you're doing achievements-wise

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2009 7:02 pm

Just out of general curiosity...

Do you guys care about getting all of the achievements or do you just not care - let them come as they come?
If you care have you finished yet? How many/which do you have left?

Yeah kinda... If it's something insanely hard or something I don't like doing Caravan then I won't bother.
Other than that, yeah, it's fun and gives me something to do.

I enjoy Trophies/Achievements, mostly because it gives you a little sense of pride for every game you 100%, and there a useful distraction while waiting for the next big release.

For New Vegas, I have every trophy other then Hacker of the Mojave.

Mostly because I'm to lazy to print off a guide.

But thanks for caring. How many do you have Carney?

I enjoy earning achievements. I have all except 5 (Dead Money finished), Legend of the Star, The Whole Gang's Here, Hack the Mojave, Artful Pocketer, and Desert Survivalist. And don't be dissin on Caravan. I love that game. Once I get New Vegas back, I'll try to get those. I didn't before because I had exactly 10000 Gamerscore and didn't want to screw that up, freakin GTA4, accidentally got one for surviving a long time with maxed wanted level. Now I'm at 10115. Would be nice if I could delete some achievements. 10000 was perfect. Has a much better ring than 10115.

I just let them come as they come, haven't gone out of my for any really, but I've slowly acquired most all of 'em now except the Caravan and healing-with-food ahievements. But I'm not going to play fifty-odd hands of caravan to get an acnievement, ain't gonna happen.

Caravan is actually quite easy, and even though I started playing it for the Trophy, I started to enjoy it.
Basically, you build three rows and try to get each row between 21-26 to "Own" that row, trying to get as close to 26 and beat your opponent without going over.

Just make a New character with luck maxed out, and play Blackjack. There's only a 10%-15% that you will lose

Yes Man achievements and "recruit all companions" is left for me.
On FO3 I only have "100 alien captive recordings" left.

Did you ever turn it off at one point or turned it on later in game?

Yeah, I know how to play caravan, it's not the difficulty of it that'll stop me getting the achievement, more that I just can't be bothered to play a minigame I find a bit boring just to get an achievement. Not knocking those that do enjoy it though.

"recruit all companions"

Oh yeah, I haven't got that one either. I guess you have to get them all in one play-through.

I don't particularly care about the achievements

I don't even know how many there are let alone how many I have.

Nah, it's always been on, the only time it wasn't was on my first playthrough( was just seeing how the game handled) and I'm on my third now so eh,

I never personally hunt for them, or work specifically to get them. I just play normally. I can care less for them to even be there. I think that they're pretty pointless.

I use a mod to remove that aspect of the game.

This. Pretty much.

I have no clue why they were ever even invented to begin with. Were games, as they were, lacking incentive to play them?

No need for a mod if you play offline :whistling:

Really? Sounds cool... but I just assumed that it would still tick off the achievements as they were met, and also that it would sync with Steam if you went online again.

While I'm not playing NV now, I have put in over 200 hrs into it and have amassed a total of 4 achievements in that time (total of 6hrs online). Most of that was in the first day or so after release with Steam cloud off, as well as automatic updates. Not sure if that is the reason why though. At least it's something to think about.

EDIT: spelling

For me I first play through the game once or twice, and after that I start trying to get the acheivements, like the energy weapons acheivement svcked cause there's only the silver rush, but other than that they came from just playing the game.
