how do you exactly fight a giant? : V

I am kind of curious on how you would fight a giant, in oblivion you would probably spam his ankles with slashing and spells but with how the combat system is now, I think that it would kind of stupid to try to brainlessly attack it.

How would you go about killing a giant?

Perhaps aim for the head with ranged weapons?

Or aim higher with melee and strike it's torso?

Or perhaps they could be so dynamic that we could attack their ankles to cause them to fall, and then when they fall go for the head?

I really hope it's not just mindless slashing :\

Ahem, in all seriousness though. Magic I'm guessing will be the most effective means of attack. I imagine the Shouts will be of great help to those engaging in melee with the things.

Maybe you do some slashing at his knees, but as a finishing move, you jump on his head with your legs wrapping around his shoulders and cut his/her throat open.

IRL ranged.
Though tbh giants in folklore were mostly ogre sized.
So a big stick and aim for the head while leaping up.

If damage is modified in game to where you hit the creature / npc then ranged again.

So then how to NPC's kill giants? You have to remember we're not the only being in the TES universe, and giants aren't an unstoppable force until we come a long.

Use the terrain, gain height and jump, landing on its shoulder to deliver a deadly blow with a sword to its neck. Should work well for people skilled in the stealthy arts.

Step 1: Stand right between his feet

Step 2: Fire lightning bolt straight up

Step 3: (very dangerous step) Get outta the way

Step 4: Finish him off however you like while he lies on the ground groaning

From the look on the pic he's 2-3 times taller than an average humanoid.

I doubt they would let you take a hit from a giant and not be punished for it(even with a shield). I would like some pressure that would be created by seeing myself get knocked the f!@#@ ground with one hit :mohawk:

Read up on Dwarfs, Half-lings and Gnomes in D&D. It is very popular in D&D fiction for those races to take down the taller races and even giants by breaking the knees first. For example in the book series "The Cleric Quintet" by R.A. Salvatore two dwarf-en brothers, Ivan and Pikel, take on giants by one of them hitting the giants knees while the other charges at him from behind, toppling him over. In 1 vs 1 combat they would work the typical "attack the knees" routine.

Perhaps in Skyrim we could have a bit of locational damage, with the knees crumbling after a certain amount of force being applied in melee combat.
