How do you feel about your house in Tes games!

Post » Sun Jul 31, 2011 4:59 pm

I myself love houses. In morrowind i killed a lady in balmora and decked my house out with tons of candles( and other light sources) and displayed all my valuables untill i got the dreaded OVER FLOWING LOOT SACK O NOES. but anyways then i did the same in oblivion i decorated my house in bruma with all the stuff ive collected. I probably spent at least a good 4-5 hours on each game just decorating, makes the house feel special. Share some of your experiences !

I like setting up a good home, however I just haven't found my perfect home. I'm not looking for an ultra fancy house, while that would be nice I just haven't found one to suit my tastes. Then again, I probably don't look hard enough.

Wrong forum...but...

Yes. I decorate my house mostly in the Construction Set though. I spend hours and hours...and hours...and hours....and even more hours. In Skyrim I'm going to make my own little island in its own world space like I did in Oblivion.

I like to decorate. Loved it in MW and even cracked open the construction set to build a house after spedning time in my little estate. Decorated it with those little red statues, had a lit walkway by lanterns, etc. Didnt' discover pillow forts until it was to late :sadvaultboy:

Then came Oblivion. Twas really excited, but got pretty frustrated with the physics thing. So, the houses just became storage spaces.

I still prefer Morrowind's method, static items FTW!

Eh, I'm not that great at all of the loading order stuff, conflict resolution, etc. I'd prefer not to use mods if at all possible. The house decoration thing wasn't big enough of a deal for me to search and use a mod.

I don't decorate my house. I mostly use it as a storing place, so that I know where certain things are that I might want to keep for later.
Also, for roleplaying reasons... kinda. It's not that I would roleplay "oh I'll go to my house and relax there", I just feel uncomfortable when I don't have a place to stay. Coming to the city where your house is and thinking "ah, I'm home", even if you don't ever spend any time in that house, that's nice. And one house in the entire gameworld is really enough for that, but if I don't have that one, I feel uncomfortable.

Needless to say, in Morrowind and Oblivion I was the owner/squatter of many, many buildings or dungeons.

Load order what? You don't need to worry about load orders or mods conflicting with each other or anything like that. I didn't have to. Just don't download overhauls like Better Cities or Open Cities or OOO or MMM or whatever else there is. A simple, small mod is fine. Like http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6021 one. Simple and small. No conflicts whatsoever. And you get to have fun decorating your house.

Questions 2-4 could use a "maybe" option. I didn't bother decorating my house in Oblivion (I use a basic, but storage-box-heavy Ayleid Ruin style house mod), but in Fallout 3 I sometimes covered the shelves in guns. So I might decorate in Skyrim, might not. :)

edit: but the primary use for me is storage. I'm a packrat. So, every Oblivion character has the free house mod installed, and every FO3 character I make has Explosives tagged so that I can immediately get the Megaton house. Gotta have boxes to fill with junk! :D
