Hi there fellow noob to fallout 4 serries its a plesure to play such an epic game!, anyway i have a couple of questions. so i started building a base in sanctuary but i run out of wood and metal ect. i scrapped evrything i found laying around in that area and cant find any more wood. so my question is How do i get more?

It seems you can purchase supplies at cities. Diamond City had a merchant who you could buy wood and steel shipments off of.

I have a question. how do shipments work? Do you buy it once and they keep coming every so often? Or is it a buy once and thats it?

No idea, haven't tried that out yet. I suppose it's either a caravan shipment and you might need a shipping route in place of some sort (I still haven't completed all the settlement building stuffs so I am no expert on this.) Or that it just gets added to your inventory.

Junk shipments are way too expensive

Supposedly, your settlers can scavenge for materials, but I have no idea where that feature is at the moment.

I assume shipments work more like the jars/boxes from NV, where picking it up gives you a set amount of raw materials. If it were to be continuously delivered, there would be a much more sophisticated system in place for that.

At your settlement use the workbench and start taking down the trees and stuff you do not need, that will get you the materials you need for the majority of stuff and scrap cars everything you can go near scrap it when you are in the V mode settlement workbench thing, only works inside your settlement area though not in the wasteland in general.

So let me get this straight, they are multible workbenchs around fallout and u can press V in some other locations to, when u scrap the metal from one location does the scrap get saved so u can use it in a difrent area?

When you scrap in an area it goes into the workshop. Exit workshop mode and do a transfer with the workshop table. Take whatever materials you want and carry them to the other location.

One of the cheapest ways is to just pick up junk, usually gives you steel, wood, copper and aluminum which should set you up

I use one of the traders, she has very expensive materials you can buy in bulk.

You can scrap when in workbench mode at a settlement, and after you are done running around scraping everything go back to the work bench exit the settlement build thing and press R at the workbench and press R again to pick everything up if you can carry all of it if not micro manage your inventory to be able to fast travel to your main settlement if you have one specific one and go back and forth to get the materials you scraqed moved to the main settlement.

To be more specific:

• To get more Wood and Metal bring back everything you find in the world including weapons and armor.
• You can move all junk you find into a workshop at a settlement with one key press.
• Items placed in any settlement workshop can be accessed by all other workstations in the SAME settlement.
• If you have a Charisma of 6 you can get local leader and link your settlements.
• If you choose one central settlement you can make a link out to all the other settlements and then you can drop all stuff in the main settlement and all others will have access to it.

So if you take and drop all your "Junk" and weapons and armor onto a main base all the links will get it, but it can also not work depending on where you drop them.

Say Sanctuary is Settlement A, RR Station is B, and Diamond City is C, if you have Links from A -> B and A -> C stuff dropped off in A will be useable by A, B, and C. But if you drop stuff in B only A and B will be able to use it. (I could be wrong but I think it only shares between the cities that are linked and not through multiple links.

How did you run out 0.0 I scrapped everything and built an entire fence all the way around and still have 300+ wood and metal and rubber.

Local leader level 2 which requires you to be lvl 14

Quickest way to get wood and metal is while in your setellemt presh V for a while until workench comes up, then go around settlement conveting saluaging stuff like trees and houses. Should get more than you need.

Level 1 allows you to link settlements, Level 2 allows you to build workstations. (unless my guide is wrong).

You're out of wood? I got over 1000 pieces of wood just junking around Sanctuary.

Probably did the Prefab option for one of the shacks. Using a lot of resource.

As others have said, find workbench areas you are NOT going to use as settlements, scrap everything in sight, go collect everything at the local workbench and carry them back to home.

OR (and I haven't done this yet) establish a supply line to your workbench and then you can scrap anywhere you have connected.

I would have said this was a crazy question but after watching people building some pretty ambitious buildings online I guess I can see how you might run out of wood and steel eventually.

they need to fix a few stuff when ur builing on workshop mode like alot of the times my walls do not click and stuff like that but yeah im having loads of fun! im sure they will be updats for it verry soon
