How do you get power armor in fallout 1?

Post » Sun Apr 04, 2010 7:40 pm

i found the pile of broken power armor in the brotherhood base, and i got the part needed to fix it, but i can't repair it because my repair skill is too low. i leveled up, saved my game and put all 17 stat points on repair, bringing it up to 67, and i STILL couldn't repair the armor.

my question is: how high of a repair skill do you have to have to repair this armor? i don't really want to spend so many points on repair. is there any other way to get power armor besides repairing this?

thanks,

marsh

You can buy repair books at the library in the hub which should get your repair skill up to a maximum of 90.

67 should probably be enough. Just try a lot of times until you succeed.

Save before you try to repair the armor on the table a critical error locks you out for a while.

Also right click, go to the bag icon and use a repair tool aswell.

And your right repair is pointless to raise because you can get it to 100+% on normal by only reading books, just turn your difficulty to hard then read books and turn it back.

Alternatively, you can go to the hub, and in the building just north of where Harold is is a young Brotherhood Initiate trapped by some gangsters. if you rescue him, you can as an option select Power Armour as your reward - However, given the other potential rewards, you may or may not want to select power armour here.

Talk to Talus.
Spoiler
He'll ask you to find a missing Brother, pointing you to the Hub as a lead. Find him and return to The Brotherhood to report back to Talus. If your Luck is high enough (6 or 7 and higher), you can pick Power Armor as a reward.

That is one of the toughest early fights in the game. A low level character should beware and be well armed.

And/Or Psycho up.

And of course, save before and after!

I don't think your luck matters at all, I got it with a luck of 5.

Yeah I don't think luck is a factor. From what I remember my luck was pretty low, if you find the missing BoS member he gives you the power armour as a reward regardless of stats.

Well, I thought it mattered because a few times I didn't get the option for it when choosing the reward...
