How do you guys play?

Post » Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:32 pm

Playing since December last year, on PC. In un-moddded, I went small guns-to-energy as the game progressed and bought all kinds of stuff for my house with the thousands of spare caps I always had. I came from a game with awesome unarmed and melee fighting, and hated the lagging, annoying Bethesda version.

Now I'm using the FWE mod, so ammo has weight and cost and I have it set so everything you need to scavenge is pretty rare. Everything about it is an improvement on gameplay-- the realism is way up, and so is the challenge, but when you shoot someone in the head or hit them in the head with a sledgehammer, they go down... and so do you if you take a hit like that.

So due to cost and rarity of ammo, I now embrace Unarmed and Melee, and have gotten used to it's timing :toughninja:. I carry one distance gun, (.32 hunting or sniper), one room-clearing gun (Terrible Shotty, Xuan long, or Sydney's SMG) some good knuckles and a Shishkebab and I no longer spend even a single cap on decorating.

My itchy trigger fingers are double crossed that NV will be a big leg up in unarmed, to hand mix some cliches.

I've been playing regularly since last Christmas, but I played before off and on because I'd frequently rent it. Actually ended up first playing it because I couldn't find the game I was looking for at the video game rental store. Saw Fallout 3 and looked at the back of the case and thought "Meh, this looks neat. I'll give it a try." Fell in love with the game and I've been obsessed with the entire series since.

I play on xbox, I start out with small guns as they and the ammo for them is plentiful in the beginning of the game, then later on dump all my points into energy weapons. My character has every stat maxed out, or close to it, so I could technically use whatever weapon I wanted, or any play style I wanted, but energy weapons are the bomb, and I stick with the trusty A3-21 plasma rifle.

Bought on release day (and downloaded a whole day from Steam :swear: which should also make it clear that i'm on PC :D), i've used hand to hand only to beat up Butch. Favored playstyle is sneak and rifles, i sometimes put trophies on the walls of my house, but don't spend too much time on it.

i played fallout for so long that i dont bother to remember.

pc, all the way. mods, my computer rocks, and the console is fun.

you try hand to hand against an overlord, or albino, or reaver. i REALLY hate reavers.

gatling laser, its like a laser rifle, but it shoots so fast it makes the tesla cannon look over rated. (i put it as other, cause. its both a big gun and energy weapon. and i dont want to disgrace it by including it with big guns.)

of course i spend time working on my house, it takes 10 minutes and surgical precision just to put up a nuka cola without it falling over.

I've been playing since about a month after it was released. I play it on PC. I find hand to hand combat very useful. If you get your unarmed to 100 first before reading any skill books, or getting the bobblehead you can have an unarmed skill of close to 200, because unarmed is the only skill that doesn't stop improving at 100. mix that with paralyzing palm, and you can nearly one hit kill a deathclaw bare handed. Bare hands are actually more powerful then knuckle dusters, and power fists when you have your skill at its highest, and you don't need to worry about repairing your bare fists :) My favorite combat skill is unarmed with small guns coming in a close second followed by melee. I do spend a lot of time decorating my home where ever that may be.

I never knew that, and I have been playing since it came out.

I got the game second hand for free a month after release with fable for PC. I have many different characters but my main uses unarmed when enemies get annoying. I mainly just go around either using perforator on anything that is alive and is not aligned with me or using DC Gauntlet on them.

1. 1 year (bought 2.2.2009)
2. PC
3. Useful, but not even remotely as useful as the others, so I voted "no"
4. Small weapons. Assault rifles are my top choice.

I've been playing since release but with a few gaps in between when new games have occupied my time. Hand to hand is fairly useful to me since I use a sprint mod that comes with FWE so getting up, close and personal isn't a problem. :) Small guns is my favorite by far, followed by energy weapons. I tend to put things in my house either in-game (items) or the G.E.C.K (static items). Which platform I play on? PC > ALL. That is all. :)

Small guns, everything gets chucked in one locker, unarmed is bloody useless.

That's me :D

Exactly the same for me.

I play a sniper. I specialize in sneaking, accurate single-shot rifles and stealing things. I sell anything I don't use, which is 99% of what's in the game.

Melee is useless. Big guns are useless(Though I will admit deeply satisfying during godmode MIRV rampages through the Capitol building). Explosives are pathetic at best. Best way, easiest way, to beat Fallout 3 is to fire on your enemies from a range that they can't see you at.

I got fallout 3 for the xbox 360 a few months ago, best game ive ever played and pre orderd new vegas CE a couple of weeks ago.
I mostly use small arms, Chinese assault rifle, lever action rifle, double barrel shotgun.
hand to hand combat is a last resort as its weak as hell even when fully upgraded, i would use meelly over hand to hand.
I have a house in megaton with nuka cola, jukebox, infirmary, lab, workbench, prewar theme and a fully stocked fridge but i don't spend much time in there, just stop by every now and then to store some clothing, ammo, misc items.

cheers-

I played it since it came out. I am very good, I play it on both PC and 360, which you DIDN'T HAVE AN OPTION FOR. I spend a LITTLE time putting stuff in my house, I preffer LASER weapons which you ALSO DIDN'T HAVE. and yes, UNARMED svckS.

I bought it the week it released, I like small guns and explosives the best, hand to hand svcks imo, I only make functional changes to my house and I play on the pc.
I was going to buy F3:NV, however, due to the high cost of the DLC and the fact that I have to buy it while others get it free with the GOTY, I will not be purchasing F3:NV. I may very well play it but I will not buy it unless the DLC issue is resolved to my satisfaction. Bethesda was one of the 3 game makers that I have remained loyal to, of those three only 2 remain that I will always pay for my games.
Look at The Witcher, they made an expansion with new content and some nice stuff and sold it as a box set. Unlike Bethesda however, they allowed those who had already purchased the game access to the expanded content at no charge, all you needed was your cd key and an internet connection to dl the new content. They removed the DRM as well and because of that I will always pay for whatever games I play that they release. T
oo bad Bethesda thinks so little of their customers that they feel the need to charge loyal, long time customers 50 bucks for content they give away to new players free of charge. As I said, if by some miracle Bethesda decides to do the right thing and give me the DLC at the same cost it was offered to new players I will not buy the F3:NV or any other Bethesda game in the future. There are so many good games out there now that I do not need to rely on Bethesda for my gaming needs.

PS3

Hand to hand is very useful, as are all combat styles; depends on the circumstances. Small guns are probably the most all around useful of the types, at least until the highest levels, but IMHO hand-to-hand is the most fun.

Been playing since the day it came out. Have never played hand to hand. Small weapons mostly although some big weapons are a lot of fun. Sometimes I like trying to kill off Raiders and Mutants with the Big Guns I loot off their buddies.
I play on a dedicated gaming/music studio PC with a Radeon 9800 video card and an awesome pro audio system that is not connected to the internet.
I use the lockers near a workbench for items to build weapons with. I use another locker for "highly collectibles". Everything else I simply throw on the floor and try to live like a pig.....because my wife doesn't approve of that in real life. I try to keep the place as junky as possible. But I do like placing items like tweezers, syringes, & bone saws and other tools on the bench....just because.
