How do you justify it?

Post » Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:53 am

There's been a lot of discussion about how the factions are not supposed to be clear cut good and bad. However, with everything I've seen thus far Caesar's Legion sure does seem to be the "bad guys". Especially with what happens at Nipton. The problem for me is that I want to join up with the Legion but I don't know how to justify becoming a murderer and a thief. My question is, for those joining the Legion what is your justification (please don't spoil anything in your explanations). But how are they not purely evil?

I'm looking forward to driving them out of New Vegas. They cant even justify their actions. NCR for me I guess.

I wonder as well. I'm neutral to them so I can come and go as I please. I haven't really found out how they are good. They seem to be the least good of any of them.

well they crucify drug dealers, and that seems like a cool thing to do. Also they hate powder kegers as much as i do

Well if you look at it from there POV, like Lupe said in Nipton the people where stabbing each other in the back double dealing and not very nice in general. The purpose of the legion is to "cleanse the wastes" personally i haven't gotten very far into why they are doing it so maybe Caesar has a good reason (i think he was abused as a child :bonk: ). Any way its kill on sight for me.

"Quasar's Legionaries" are by far my most hated group. The only nice thing I can say about them is that they have a keen eye for fashion :P

But, it all depends on your perspective. Right now I am with the Followers of the Apocalypse; a good guy who can read the shades of gray but ultimately can make "God" like choices that will shape everyone's fate and not just his own. It's more out of personal, player recognition in the game so I can try and accomplish the most, or at least skim the surface so I can know better what to do when I play through again as specific sub-type characters (like the lovable [censored] with super-human strength :D).

Caesar's Legionaires are definitely on the "eviler" side of things, but to be honest I haven't found much that speaks well for the NCR either.

Brotherhood ho!

I just see the NCR as a bunch of phony pansies. I don't know, I'm just looking for a reason to join the Legion. And I understand this idea of cleansing the wastes, but it just seems a bit extreme. I need a "turn to the dark side" moment. Maybe a few common civilians screwing me over bad to make me turn?

For anyone that has not done so already, you should read the information on Mayor Steyn's (of Nipton) computer. It seems as though the Legion was correct, this town was corrupt, starting with the mayor. The women were [censored]'s and the men were spineless. Everyone was going behind one another's back to make a buck. I'm following the Legion. Cleansing the wasteland seems like a noble cause. Capitalism and free markets had their chance in the Fallout universe, they failed.

Suprisingly, the Legion aren't quite as bad as I expected. Well, Caesar himself isn't. Lanius is essentially Frank Horrigan in gladiator armor...
