How do you kill the Ghost People?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:52 am

I'm playing on very hard hard core mode, started at level 30 with guns at 99.

I've been using the police pistol, ammo is fairly common and I like the critical hit / extra limb damage.

I always use VATS and aim for the head. All you have to do is cripple one limb to kill them, and several VATS shots to the head will cripple their head before they run out of hit points. A critical shot to the head is almost a one hit kill. When I run out of VATS, I try to dodge them a bit by hiding behind pillars.

I found melee and unarmed a pain (though my skills are low in that) because you can't target limbs, and they are bullet sponges when you shoot them without VATS.

I entered at level 30 with 100 in guns and energy weapons.. 85 in explosives.. for the most part I had enough ammo to use energy first and guns second... and I just aimed for whatever leg offered me the highest %.. you DO NOT have to aim at their head.. I found it easier to aim at the legs or arms.. whatever offered me the highest % I shot at.. if it was all equal I went for the legs.. and after two or three shots they went down..

I dont' see any reason to go for head unless you have the Sniper perk.. otherwise shoot for leg or arm with highest % (85+) and it'll be 2-3 shots max and they'll fall..

I have yet to see Dog eat any Ghost People, and I took him all over the place to kill those guys. Anyway.

I shoot them in the face with a Police Pistol. If I happen to get a critical, it usually results in a head pop. Otherwise, they go unconscious and that's when my trusty Cosmic Knife comes out.

I have to say, playing Dead Money on Hard and hardcoe is a very difficult but fun experience so far. The slow health drain, traps everywhere, death radios. Most of the Fallout 3 DLCs weren't very difficult, except for Point Lookout, but that was only because of bullet sponge enemies. Dead Money slaps you right in the face with a challenge.

Are you sure Dog is the one in control? Because for me he'll scream 'FOOD!' and rip them apart, almost too eagerly if I'm fighting a group of them and I'm still engaged. So if you have Dog and not God following you and he won't kill unconscious Ghost People than that is the most unfortunate bug I've ever heard about, because it's an awesome sight.

I'm playing on very hard mode, and I think that is why I am always able to cripple a limb before they run out of hit points if I stick to VATS.

I just shoot them down with the AR or Police Pistol then chop off their heads with the Cosmic Knife.
