How do you like to outfit your settlers?

Post » Mon Dec 14, 2015 3:43 pm

I'm about 100% sure that ammo is infinite for settlers (at least they have been for me), so I usually outfit my settlers with the best weapons i can

but here are their uniforms (mainly so they can be easily identifiable for job assignments)

Guards: mining helmets, army helmets, or hard hats; welding goggles; bandanna; best armor surplus (metal->leather); and road leathers

Farmers: flannel shirt and jeans with leather armor, and a small hat (usually +1 luck) like visor or fedora, etc.

Scavengers: Gas mask and goggles with raider leathers and all raider armor

Provisioners: usually a spike or caged armor suit with an assault gas mask; i usually put my best surplus long range weapons on these guys; like to give laser muskets

Shopkeepers: try to outfit these people with casual outfits depending, usually somewhat related to what they're selling

i still got a long way to go, but this is what i like so far

I just give them whatever I pick up from Raiders or Gunners or Synths.

I'm nowhere near done with outfitting my settlements or settlers, but I give all my traveling provisioners for my trade routes, road leathers, leather armor, mining helmets, and shotguns. I chose mining helmets for them because they could help them see better while traveling in the dark.

They all pass through the Red Rocket which I've set up as a trade route hub and when some random raider popped up near the settlement, they all shot him down in about 3 seconds.

Nice guns, I leave sets of Power Armor at my places, with a core, already to go.

Farmers: "Normal" clothing, brimmed hats, hand guns or shotguns.

Guards: Gunners type undergear with combat armour, various things for head wear like yellow flight helmet or mining helmet etc. Various rifles depending on posting.

Scrappers: Mechanic overalls, hard hat or mining helmet, welding goggles, pipe wrench or sledge hammers.

Shops: Nice clothes, dresses, suits etc. hand guns or shotguns.

Provisioners: Clothing with some type of bag/backpack, caps, various weapons.

Currently, I have 25 settlements, with nearly 600 settlers, so uniforms are a must.

Farmers: Undershirt and Jeans, Bandanna

Scrappers: Scavenger Outfit, Goggles

Merchants: Surveyor Outfit, Trilby Hat is the standard, but have several dressed more according to their specialty.

Guards: Combat Armor, Army Helmet, Raider Leathers, Sunglasses and a non-automatic rifle

Provisioners: Metal Armor, Assault Gas Mask, Road Leathers and an automatic rifle

Everyone has a .38 pistol, renamed to show their assignment, and rifles are either laser or .45.

At least that what they're issued with currently, though quite a few of my subjects have liberated much heavier firepower from mobs.

I accidentally stripped the females down to underwear when trying to put armor on them, then found out how warped and badass they look in underwear, body armor and gas masks

if a power armor suit is near an npc (settler, enemy, any npc) and has fusion core in it, once combat is initiated (this is a must/nearby enemy or whatever), the very first thing that npc will do is jump in that power armor

Yeah that will NEVER happen with a 300 defense castle....hell even when the walls were busted no one ever came by to roll the place.

xD, well that might be true, but from my own experience and what i've seen from other posts this is the case with npc's and power armor

in fact in previous playthrough i had gotten out of my PA right before Castle liberation quest and then the mirelurks got aggroed and one of the minutemen immediately jumped in my suit, so on this playthrough i want to try and have enough PA suits to line up in front of the minutemen before the battle so that wen it starts they all jump in their suits (i'm trying to get them to all kick butt and survive the battle); i also want to try and record this, got quite a few hrs of gameplay tho before i get to this point

I have mine in laundered or clean items (nothing patched, battered, crumpled or dirty - but worn fedoras are okay) - dresses for the women, loungewear or black slacks / vest (Triggerman outift) for the guys if I can find them. Hats and sunglasses too. One of my clinic staff is a ghoul - she has a lab coat, sunnies and a pompadour wig lol.

If I can find military fatigues I'll put guard post settlers in those. As for weapons, I give them whatever surplus I have unless it's valuable (eg Justice, worth over 1000 caps according to its stats).

If you want your Settler to use the Power Armor for like ever....

You gotta assign him to guard duty in one of those Bunker Posts.

Otherwise they go to bed eventually and get out.
