How do you like the "new" armor sets?

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 5:29 pm

Stalhrim, Chitin, Bonemold, Nordic Carved, etc. Anyone wearing those?

I like them, but I like my Dragonscale better. Nordic Carved and Chitin are my favorite sets from DB though.

I like stahriim, i have a bow made of it with a frost enchantment. I rarely use it though, my daedric bow is better.

I love them. My character wore Chitin armour for most of her adventures through (and after) Solstheim, despite being a pure mage who previously wore only robes.

Stalhrim is amazing. It looms really good.

My Altmer wears Bonemold with Zarhinkos (or whatever that infernal shock-enhancing mask is called), gives him an interesting look, but he's not high-level enough to really benefit yet. And my Khajiit just discovered Deathbrand armor (which makes Blood-Drinker and Flesh-burner into weapons of mass destruction). Haven't used anything else yet.

Nothing comes between me and my Daedric armor. /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> Actually do want to try Stalhrim - but those helmets...erm...yeah, 'nuff said.

Well... depends what you mean by 'better'.
Those heavy bows are the very slowest of all - they take a long time to draw.
Plus they're heavy!
My Nord Hero bow (made at Skyforge) has almost as much damage but draws very quickly...
And it weighs only 7 pounds.

I was saddened by the Chitin armor, which (even if you make a brand-new set) is all tattered and raggedy-a$$ looking. Ack...
Bonemold looks better, but it's heavy. Ditto Nordic Carved.
Stalhrim looks okay - Serana looks good in a light Stalhrim set (with a white fur hood).

I (a Mage in robes) had sort of a Blue thing happening with my Aetherial Crown and light Stalhrim hand & foot...
But it's an acquired taste, the Stalhrim look /shrug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I think the heavy helm looks better, but the light helm is traditional too - not sure why, but nobody likes that helm (with the two antlers like antennae).

Personally, it looks good, but nothing can beat the sinister appeal of a full set of Daedric for my warrior.

My mage wears the classic Archmage Robes and Morokei setup, but with Ancient Falmer boots and gauntlets. We'll see if there's a better light armor replacement to be had from the DLC.

I like Strahlim and Nordic carved. I don't like Bonemold or Chitin, mostly for the look. The dark tissue under the scales of the armor is not done well; maybe it's too low res to look credible.

I'll mostly take Chitin. Stalhrim's brightness is too damn high!

I agree with you about Stalhrim. It's too much of a contrast to the gameworld's colors. It's too sky-blue and I really can't get into it.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the Skaal gear. Best in the game IMO...rugged wilderness gear built for warmth. I'm surprised it wasn't in vanilla Skyrim under a different name.

...instead we got fur armor that look like feathers from a goose and barely covers you.

I like the iron helmet and all its horned glory, but the Stalhrim helmet's got HUGE horns.

I love Nordic Carved armor.
Especially for females.

It looks elegant because of the patterns and the thick fur collar.
Yet strong and intimidating because of the scratches and the bulkyness.

Perfect for a battlemage I might plan on making. Using only frost magic and especially melee combat with a blade.

I also love Skaal armor, going to visit Solstheim with my witch (Who also uses frost magic as offensive magic.) just to get those clothes. I like her vampire armor, fits her very well, but Skaal armor seems nice for the colder places. Everytime she visits the greybeards she must have been freezing, even for a Nord. Female vampire armor is pretty revealing, so not exactly good against the cold. So yeah, that's the reason why I like Skaal armor, I can use it as a replacement armor for colder areas.

Edit: Forget about the battlemage, made her a barbarian without magic instead, still going for Nordic Carved armor though. And the battleaxe...so pretty.

Nordic Carved to me is the best one. Plus all the weapons.

I like Heavy Stahrim. I think Nordic is cool but I never use it myself. Bonemold is growing on me, but I've never used it. Chitin looks too weird for me.

This 100%. I always intend to wear robes only, but when I see the Chitin I can't pass it up. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

My only complaint is the Morag Tong Armor. A quick retexture of the Chitin Armor without any heavy variant, despite there being Heavy Chitin Armor. Wish it was more like their concept art.
