So how do YOU powergame in Skyrim?

Post » Fri May 10, 2013 2:15 pm

There are several threads dedicated to roleplay "rules" you impose upon yourself, several of which I adhere to (no fast travel, no hud, eat 3 times a day, sleep at night, walk unless the situation dictates otherwise etc etc, I just kind of live as my character would).

I'm curious about those who play in the opposite way, those who grind, fast travel from dungeon to dungeon, loot, rinse, repeat.

How many hours did it take you guys to "finish" Skyrim? Talk me through a typical play session.

For myself it could take an entire evening IRL to prepare for a journey between holds, and a couple of evenings to actually complete the journey.

I'm not sure Skyrim can be finished, but I try to avoid any sort of grinding or powergaming. For me the characters are always the most fun in the earlier levels when I am building them up and making them unique from my other characters.

Like the majority of people on here i roleplay and actually appreciate the gameworld instead of just flying round the place like superman clearing dungeon after dungeon in record time. To me, that's not fun.

I agree, hell im 200 hours in, still on my first character, barely touched the MQ, part way through TG and havent really touched much else other than misc quests.

I suppose thinking about it my question is rather redundant. Any powergamers would have long since "beaten" an almost 2 year old game and have traded it in

I don't think there's any right or wrong way to play, but roleplaying certainly adds longevity.

Contrary to popular gamer belief one can roleplay and power game at the same time. There are different kinds of roleplaying.

There is no way this game is 'meant' to be played. The player can play any game as they please.

I don't power game, like the posters above. I find enjoyment in the journey, not the destination.
But, as also mentioned above, there's no 'right' way to play the game. I used to power game and thoroughly enjoyed the game - I just enjoy it even more, and for far longer, with roleplay.
