How do you regain pips for class actions?

Post » Thu Dec 23, 2010 11:10 pm

So yeah, I read the Brink Bible, but I was left somewhat confused about the "pips" that get used up for class actions. Do these "pips" which essentially allow you to do your job as a given class recharge in some way? Or are you given a limited amount to last you a life?

In a few of the newer vids you can see it refills over time, so my guess its a timelapse regen

Pips refill over time. This is correct.

What we don't know yet is, if all bodytypes regenerate at the same speed. They all do have the same amount of pips.

It refills over time. If you've ever played an RPG, it's a lot like Mana or MP.

This. Also pips are officially called supplies now.

To clarify, your health and supplies are measured by pips. Pips are the measuring device, little segments that divide up the health and supply bars.

1. Yes, as everyone has said, they regenerate over time.
2. There is a universal skill that gives you extra supplies.
3. Medics are able to give their supplies to other players.

I understand it's somewhat similiar to action points in Fallout but I could be way out in left field.

Thanks, guys:) If I remember correctly I believe I heard in one of the interviews that the bigger your body type, the more supplies you carry. So while a Lightweight may have 3 supplies, a Heavy may have something like 5. Not quite sure on the exact number of supplies though.

No, they changed that. All body types receive the same amount of supplies.

In Enemy Territory (Brinks WW2 predescessor game) capturing and holding command posts enabled your team's class' ability meter to regenerate at a slightly faster rate. MaybeCommand posts will maybe have a similar function in Brink.

Pips are the measurements for supplies and health.

Say you have 3 pip bars for supplies means you have 3 chances to give out a bonus before you run empty

is this is definite thing or is this a guess? cause if medics could do that then two medics next to each other passing pips to each other would be like infinite pip production.

Health is top left.

Abilities bottom left. Circular gauge that has your abilities (mapped to d-pad on consoles) in the middle of it. Really simple set up.

Also on console you can only have 3 class abilities equipped at once. Active class abilities. If it's a passive ability then it doesn't matter how many you have. A good strategy is to have all passive abilities except for the 3 active abilities you want and have each character you set up be a specialist in a class.

As somebody else said it may be that the medic can give his own supplies to another, so he loses his and the other player gains them, which would not be mutually beneficial in a medic to medic tradeoff, as nobody would get anything.

Except if thats the case than it would be endless ex between the two.

Right, but it's like two guys tossing the last candy bar back and forth so the other guy doesn't starve. Together the two aren't gaining anything that they didn't already have, they're just passing it back and forth.

Of course it's possible it may cost additional supplies to transfer supplies so maybe it costs me 2 pips to give you 1 of the 2.

well if the medic gives his pips to another player and it is an equal exchange then it wouldn't be infinite pips. but honestly I would want the medic to hold on to as many pips as possible for revives and not pass them out to other players

But at the same time, passing out the last of your supplies for a quarter-dozen weapon buffs is a tactical decision. Live longer, or kill faster?
