How do you think we will hold duel weilded dagger?

Post » Sat Jul 30, 2011 7:43 am

So im currious if anyone has heard anything about this. i would perfere that that when we use daggers we have the OPTION to hold them in a backwards grip. i mean ive never been in a knife fight or anything, but if someone attacked me and i have a knife im going to hold it in a backwards grip, just seem more natural. do you think we will use dagger the same as in oblivion or that they will give us the backwards grip

I personally think (and hope) that in sneak mode you will hold them in a backwards grip but out of sneak mode like a normal sword.

This for sure... If they swapped back and forth it'd be amazing. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to mod daggers to be swapped around though.. I'd be willing to bet this wasn't in the game plan. Think about it though... if you're sneaking around it might be backwards.. but once you're at someones back, your thrusting power isn't gonna be a downwards motion, it'll be upwards as you grab them by the neck (as a picture was scene I do believe?)

Who knows

Not really any point to dual-wield daggers though.

At OP: You'd very fast be owned by your opponent if you actually used a dagger in a real fight, no matter how you hold it.

Like a sword I guess, would make it easier to block attacks. Not that you really should be able to block a giant's club with dagger, that's just ridiculous. Isn't it? ISN'T IT?! :(

Nobody with training uses a knife with the blade pointing downwards. Firstly, it's easter to block and disarm someone stabbing downwards, and second it's more effective to stab the blade up under the ribs.

Actually, most military and police knife training instructs the proper holding of the knife to be upward so you get more of an extended reach for stabbing, slashing and quick blocks. although holding the knife downward does look cool

A mixture of both. And when you receive the Dagger blade back from the blacksmith, I expect it to be handed to me with the handle first.

OMG

I was going to make a post like this

you beat me to it,

of course daggers should be held professionally and not like [censored] swords, cause they are NOT swords

hmmmm

let me look for the link ....

ok here http://www.google.com/imgres?q=dark+messiah+dagger+hold&hl=en&client=firefox-a&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1680&bih=869&tbm=isch&prmd=ivns&tbnid=7gBvMSheWwLzbM:&imgrefurl=http://pc.ign.com/articles/742/742365p1.html&docid=jS1HJye1CVnl5M&w=480&h=384&ei=YO8yTufDPM_D8QPDpamhDg&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=284&page=1&tbnh=128&tbnw=163&start=0&ndsp=41&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:0&tx=129&ty=50

in dark messiah the daggers actually get flipped around a lot depending on attack positions :D its amazing you can even throw one at a running enemy or if your pissed enough :P

I the black guy from The Green Mile attempted to mug me - I would give in.
I'd probably just throw money at him and run anyway, even if he didn't attempt to mug me :D

And no, it has nothing to do with race...

Exactly. What use would a weapon be to him with both arms broken and all dreams of ever having children smashed? Not to mention broken skull if the woman hasn't cleaned up her handbag in a while.

What about sideways? You could hold a dagger sideways.
