How do you want your Argonians

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:30 pm

Defiantly dial back the goofiness of the Morrowind style Argonian. I actually had to pause the game I was laughing so hard when I saw one walk. Now that could be because of how absurd all characters look when they walk in MW, but still their legs are far too long I think.

Unless Beth purposely wanted them to look stupid when they walk

I was going to make a joke about wanting them with a side of fries, but several people have beaten me to it. (darn) On topic, I liked them well enough in Oblivion, but I would like them to look a little more feral.

I want Morrowind style for the legs, swimming, etc. But I preferred the heads on the oblivion Argonians. I guess its because the ones taken to Morrowind were the more primitive strands taken from black marsh while the ones in oblivion were the hist strand (not the hist trees) that migrated away.

And please, no chicken style walking for the Argonians if they are more beast-like.

Argonians are supposed to be humanoid lizards ... so they were just fine in Oblivion. But there are different species of them and Khajiit ... (those are different species in Morrowind and Oblivion)

How about "Skyrim Style"

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore_talk:Argonian

In the race selection window in Morrowind it says something along the lines of, "In the male phase they are strong and dumb" yadda yadda " and in the female life phase they are weak and witty". This clearly suggests they change six halfway through their life, and should be looked in to.

This is indeed interesting, and may well be related to the dialogue of some Argonians in Oblivion. City-Swimmer (an Argonian female) for instance, refers to herself as male: "Does anyone see City-Swimmer? Is he gliding beneath the silver water? Is he creeping 'round a corner, hugging a wall, silent as a shadow in the dark." 77.161.184.122 11:29, 11 June 2008 (EDT)

Although, this would hardly be the only case where an NPC was referred to using the wrong gender pronouns in Oblivion, and it's not just Argonians. However, I have heard something (I forget where) about the life phases and the possibility of a change of gender at some point in their life cycle (though I'm not sure it's necessarily at the halfway point, or that it's always male-to-female, or that it happens only once even). The fact is that very little is known at this time about the physiology of Argonians, so until Bethesda sees fit to give us a little more to go on, we can only guess at the specifics. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:17, 11 June 2008 (EDT)

Or, that could just be a minor typo in Morrowind(because it never stated that in oblivion) and as the above comment stated this isnt the first time in Oblivion that a gender confusion statement has been made by an NPC but then again I could be wrong--LuciusZelgius 20:56, 22 November 2008 (EST)

Even if they do change gender halfway through life, it cannot possibly be the same for each one...Look at Ocheeva and Teinaava. They're twins, but one's female, one's male. This would make them precisely the same age...but different genders, denying that, if they do change gender at the midpoint of life, it is not the same for each individual Diamantus 14:12, 6 January 2009 (EST)

It would be interesting to have a six change forced on you 50-200 days out from the start of your game.

As for appearance, more Oblivion than Morrowind. Normal feet with a little more lizard-like features thinner body and smaller head, it would be nice if the tail swayed on it's own while idle. [Same for Khajiit as it concerns the tail]

A blend of MW and Oblivion for the mesh, but with the texture and colouring from MW.

I'd prefer something about half-way between MW and OB. Keep the digitigrade legs and reptilian clawed feet, but thicken the limbs slightly and shorten them a lot more toward "normal", so they don't walk as ridiculously as they did in MW, but aren't as bland and uninteresting as in OB. The idea in MW was great, but it needed a bit more work.

Other

Erm, stuffed and mounted over the fireplace? ;)

But really, my only "want" (not a need by any means) is that they'd be of a whiter and fluffier variety since they're closer to the cold. A snow leopard would be most excellent!

BAHAHAA I misread the post!

So I guess how about on a skewer over a fire...mmmm roast lizard ;)

Dunno, I never really noticed, but do like the look of them in OB. But I'm running mods so I don't know if the coloring is the same

Ahhh, now that I have my breath back, I'll just say "Better," and leave it at that. As long as they're more realistically depicted, I'll be happy. :woot:

Where is the "other" option? I want them to look like Argonians, but with a new style. I don't want a rehash or Morrowind, particularly because its not fair that they can't wear boots and I don't think they'd bring that aspect back. I also don't want them looking identical to Arena or Oblivion either. I want them to have an original design to them.

No question - it has to be Morrowind-style. Having each race have the same body-type is terribly boring. It'd be like Taurens being made to look like Humans in World of Warcraft; it ain't cool.

I know it means more work making it so armour and such can fit the different body-types, but if they really can't be bothered then I'll happily take the option to not have helms or boots again, as long as racial traits counter that.
