How ZOS should balance crafted and dropped loots.

Post » Thu Mar 13, 2014 5:07 pm

So right now what we have is crafted gear svcks. The question is how do you balance this? If you make crafted the best, then why raid? If raided gear is the best, crafted gear becomes meaningless. If you make one better than the other the system is broken.
The solution, they are both the best. Now I know what you are thinking, how can they both be the best? Easy, we have room to wear two sets!!
The ideal solution is when one of the most sought after sets comes only from drops, and one set from crafters. In this way both are relevant.
Oh and 2h items should give you 2 points toward a set bonus. Tell ZOS to do it. DO IT.

They should have done away with sets and set bonuses. Then you might end up with head chest legs plus rings necklace etc from drops then fill out the rest with custom crafted and enchanted gear. Or any mix of that.

Of course this wont happen now as it would take a complete rework of gear in the game. It would have kept crafted/looted on the same level of usefulness though.

I was ready to say NO!, but that is actually a good idea. Huh. Surprised me there.

A buff to crafted set bonuses and traits would be nice regardless, though. :)

Why would you not want set items? that makes no sense.

Not a fan of the gear treadmill really. By nothaving sets it allows for mire hhorizontal progression. It makes it easier to keep crafted gear on par with dropped gear and it lowers the power creep. It also allows for a much wider variety of gear templates to be viable and the ability to mix and match looks and stats to fit your playstyle.

All just my opinion of course so please no need to call me stupid or an idiot im sure people will disagree and thats ok.

By definition horizontal progression is not progression at all.

My way makes crafted gear 100% needed and on par while making raiding worth it.

I guess im more a fan of other types of progression than gear. Was akways a fan of the gane basically saying heres the gear now what can you make out of it. Instead of heres this set of gear this is what its for.

Really just want all aspects of the game to be relevant. Would be a shame to see such a good crafting system made irrelevant at end game. You idea would work I was just throwing another idea out there.

Let's just wait and see how the things will work out, after the game is released... Asking for a new item-balancing before release, without any exact information, is a bit pointless...
