HtH and Pacifist in FO1

Post » Mon Sep 28, 2009 6:58 am

HtH:
+ All normal enemies possible to kill.
- Master is not possible to kill HtH.

Pacifist
+ You can talk Master out of his plans
- Lou doesn't like to talk.

Is it possible to beat the game as pure HtH or pacifist?

Hmm. Depends of what you want out of the game. What constitutes "beating the game" to you.

I made a pacifist character in the sense that he never did the killing himself. I got all the companions, and during combat I just ran around and healed them while they did all the killing. There's a way to get through Mariposa and the Cathedral without initiating combat, so for guys like Lou, I just avoided them completely. Because I had prior knowledge of everything in the game, my pacifist just steered clear of those areas where I knew that combat was unavoidable, and stuck to the places that I could talk my way through. I missed out on some things. But I finished the final objectives, thus I considered it a "beaten" pacifist game.

As for an HtH. Even with Power Armor you can't kill the Master? I'm sorry, I don't think I've ever tried going HtH with the Master. :P But there's a way to finish the game without killing (and not even talking to) him, and I think I took that option. Once again, I may not have killed the Master, but I considered it a "beaten" HtH game.

Hope that helps.

Thats easy. Dont kill the master (directly).
Spoiler
Theres a bomb on Level 4 you can set off with a decent Science. You'll need good lockpicking to get there

Pacifist
+ You can talk Master out of his plans
- Lou doesn't like to talk.

Dont talk to Lou.
Spoiler
Just blow the Vats and get out

There are two ways to destroy The Master without fighting. You can get to his lair without fighting by
Spoiler
wearing Cathedral robes as you make your way through the Vault.

If you talk to Morpheus, you can convince him to
Spoiler
take you to the Master right away, but I don't think you can escape incognito if you're taken to him this way.

It's also very much possible to finish the game as both HtH and Pacifist. That's what I did and I didn't get any problems. I lost all of my companions in a super-mutant random encounter near the military base, so no more protection from that point on.

I finished the Military Base by
Spoiler
triggering the self-destruct sequence.

I finished the Cathedral by
Spoiler
convincing him that his plan was a failure.

My tagged skills were Speech, Barter and Hand-to-Hand. I also had a science skill of about 90 because of the books and some skill points assigned to it.
