Hub Update Jan 13, 2011 thread #2

Post » Sat Jan 01, 2011 2:36 am

seriously im new here bud, is he like the main character or sumthing

Why would the main character be named? And why would he be named Todd? (Not hating on the name, just its not very ES-ish:P)
And how would you have a interview with the character of a game?
Common sense. bud.

He mentioned Dwemer Ruins carved into a mountain and it is now a city! :ahhh:

So.. was that it? I'm not complaining, I liked the interview. However, nothing new is showing up in the hub, so its not really a "hub" update is it?

I was just wondering the same thing actually.

That was really interesting.

I'm intrigued by the explanation of the "dragon shouts" though. The fire they breathe is the dragons actually trying to speak?! :o

Yeees, there was that too ! A glimpse of fantastic concept art, mention of Dwemer ruins, and this. I hadn't understood it at the time (feel so like duh now!), but of course if you get dragon shouts that do different things... The dragons can do them too. :P

I mean, I'm going to fight a dragon that slows time ! ^_^ Nyaaaah.

I've seen too many videos about Todd that I already know he loves Ultima, his view point on games etc, nothing of this is new to me. I'm not looking forward to the hub updates anymore. It's not worth staying up a bit later at night after a whole day at uni, for no information to be revealed about the game.

I'm just really excited about Skyrim, and I'd like to read/see more stuff about it.

More of nothing as someone else here said, Todd Howard pladdering about how rpg is morphing into other genres :( update hype mode off glhf

@ Cauthon: He said that other genres are beginning to adopt elements of RPGs.

Even if he had said the opposite, what's wrong with making an RPG playable? Improving design elements isn't bad. Both statements are true, anyhow. As technical capabilities go up more and more RPG elements that were traditional handled by invisible statistics can also be tied to gameplay, such as Oblivion's lockpicking, and the new jobs and crafting methods for Skyrim.

I'm certainly not complaining, even though I auto picked those locks every single time.

Where is that awesome dwemer city? c'mon

Todd explain that in Skyrim, there is "dwarven city (ies?)" carved into the mountains, in which the humain moved in. So Dwemer ruins confirmed, I take it : however inhabited those old cities became, how could they pass the opportunity to make cool disused passages and dangerous forgotten underground complexes with tons of Dwemer toys ? ^_^

So what I got out of this interview was that there is a dwemer city and two awesome screenshots.

Todd also mentions spears and crossbows, but it feels like he mentioned them in a way that they may not be in the game.

I'm glad to see a lot of Red Dead mentioned there. My favorite game of last year.

I know what you mean, its hard to be excited for a game when all the hub updates are really....boring? I mean I like Todd but add this as a random video but this really has Nothing to do with their newest game, I thought he said we would get alot of new info SOON after it was released? Well it is "SOON" so were is this insane amount of info about Skyrim?

If they show everything now, the "hype thermometer" will cool off, and it′s still almost a year for the game to be released. that′s how business works...

He was basically saying that we're going to have spears and crossbows in the game. Why would he mention that if he wasn't going to put them in?

And we know more about the dragons.

And I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that at some point in the game we're going to have the same powers that the dragons do, which means wind and time manipulation.

I'm satisfied with the little bone they've thrown us today.
