Hubdate 5 pictures were concept art right?

WoW-ish? I assume you mean World of Warcraft, apparently you don't know what it looks like. It looks like this. http://www.wired.com/images/article/full/2008/07/wow_630px.jpg

Glad that's settled!

Certainly nothing like Skyrim, I'd say, from what I've seen so far. I mean, I suppose the two games have depicted some similar concepts, but that's to be expected, with both being psuedo-Medieval high fantasy games, but the actual style of the games is very different.

And if the update you're refering to is the new one concerning dragon shouts, the only image that looks like an in-game screenshot to me is the first one. Note how it looks like a 3D screenshot, whereas the otherrs all look like 2D drawings, and even for those images, WoW is not what I think of when I see them.

I thought the first one was a screenshot, but looking more closely at it, it's hard to tell. Either way though, nothing I've seen so far - screen or art - looks like WoW in the least to me. It's all subjective though, of course.

It's no insult to WoW to say that Skyrim's visuals are plainly lightyears ahead in every way. There's no similarity whatsoever, as far as I can see.

The only real similarity I can think of between Skyrim's concept art and WoW's is that both Bethesda and Blizzard hire very good artists.

WoW would wholeheartedly gain my attention if it started looking like those images.

It does look like one. But the snow on the bottom right hand of the picture looks like art to me. So I can't tell honestly. Any confirmation anywhere?

Are you sure? Here it is in higher resolution. http://www.gameinformer.com/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-ImageFileViewer/CommunityServer-Components-SiteFiles-imagefeed-featured-bethesda-elderscrolls-elderscrollsv/dragonshoutfeatured.jpg_2D00_1680x0.jpg

The spreckles of snow on the ground and in particular on the stony outcroppings on the right look like art work to me rather than in-game graphics. I'm not saying it's not a screenshot. I'm just saying I can't tell personally based on that. Has there been any official statement as to whether it's in-game or concept art? I know it was in the magazine, but still.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. No one else thinks the textures in that screenshot look a little bit stylized?

That's a screenshot, absolutely nothing in it makes it look like a painting, the screenshot is just too epic for your brain to comprehend.

it is indeed a screenshot!!! Look at the closer stone column on the right. You can see clearly the polygonal shape.

IT IS A SCREENSHOT, and it′s damn good! ;D

can't wait for more!

In the dragon shout update they had 3 pictures, the first of which was in the original GI article. Please tell me they're concept art and not actual screenshots because if they are, the art direction in this game seems to be very reminiscent of WoW.

The internet never ceases to amaze me.

The picture is a screenshot, or at the very least a render. The snow is part of the new snow system, that's why it looks a little off.

I can see maybe a few places where the concept art resembles WoW (The screenshots linked throughout this thread are pretty one-sided, I can say that there are more places in WoW than that :P) but overall it's more like this concept art resembles WoW concept art.

Yep, the first pic IS a screenshot, you can recognize the "stone" textures from Fallout 3 on the bottom right of the screenshot, and the sky looks a lot like Oblivion′s.

And, as for the snow, that′s the "snow acumulating on objects" as said by Game Informer...it looks awesome.

I think it might be a screenshot, but altered in Photoshop with some filters to make it look more like concept art.

But apart from the 'proof' that it's a screenshot because it's also in Game Informer (which is hardly proof as they also could've put some concept art in there), is there some official confirmation, like Twitter?

:toughninja:
The first has the same "WoW-ish" art style to it though. And there was another one in the original GI article that looked like that too, the one of the guy sneaking in the woods. I'm just confused because in other screens (like the one in the pub with the woman in the foreground), the graphics look great. But those other ones look very much like World of Warcraft.

No it does not, your opinion is ignorant, sorry but WoW does not exsist in my realm of conciousness. Its concept art and it looks Elderscrollish due to the lore, I think you have been playing a little to much WoW whatever that game is? :cookie:
