Hubdate 5 pictures were concept art right?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:47 am

In the dragon shout update they had 3 pictures, the first of which was in the original GI article. Please tell me they're concept art and not actual screenshots because if they are, the art direction in this game seems to be very reminiscent of WoW.

I hate to sound condescending, but clearly they are concept art.

I can't understand how you would think those are screens, I also can't understand why you would have a problem with them if they were.

The first has the same "WoW-ish" art style to it though. And there was another one in the original GI article that looked like that too, the one of the guy sneaking in the woods. I'm just confused because in other screens (like the one in the pub with the woman in the foreground), the graphics look great. But those other ones look very much like World of Warcraft.

Definitely concept art. Speaking of which, do we have high res versions of them yet?

It's sometimes hard to tell with Skyrim. Refer to mountains on page 48, lul.

I do not see that at all. Also, it looks drawn because (I heard) they put it through a filter to make it look drawn.

WoW-ish? I assume you mean World of Warcraft, apparently you don't know what it looks like. It looks like this. http://www.wired.com/images/article/full/2008/07/wow_630px.jpg

Glad that's settled!

What, like rotoscoping? If they're putting the graphics through a filter to make it look drawn, doesn't that sort of prove my point on the graphics being like WoW?

In the last hub update thread, someone had posted direct links to the hi-res version of the screenshot and the concept art. That post has since been deleted (as far as I can tell because I can't find it). I did however, manage to save the hi-res version of the screenshot :)

Ugh... They put the SCREENSHOT through a filter. From my extremely limited experience as a 3D modeler, I don't believe you can even put a model THROUGH a filter.

Why would they do that?

@op there is four pictures not three. The first is in game and the other three is concept art. Looks nothing like wow. Look at the art on page 2...beautiful.

Don't be confused. If you saw the screenshots from the magazine, why would you be confused as to what the game looks like? Also, this concept art looks nothing like WoW, they're just loose in some areas, because thats how they paint.

Dude.....the first image (at the top of the first page, with the dragon flying overhead) is a screenshot,...and it looks absolutely nothing like WoW. The rest are images of concept art....they too look absolutely NOTHING like WoW. You may need Bifocals.

i'm sorry, but i don't see why anybody would think that looks like wow. it looks nothing alike. wow has cartoon graphics for the most part. skyrim clearly does not.

is it cause the picture is in a third-person perspective or something?

Is OP serious? None of this even slightly resembles wow. The closests thing I can see is that Skyrim concept art MAY remind you of WOW concept art, but you kno wha? Blizzard makes awesome concept art. But I don't even see that.. so what the heck??

WoW definitely doesn't look anywhere near as good as that screen lol.
