HUD Plea and Question.

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 5:32 am

I have been following BRINK since its inception being a fan of Splash Damage and in a few of the development diary's I hear a word very often, most especially in the Dawn Of Smart Diary; Immersion.

From reading what little I can here and there and from seeing previous videos compared to most recent PAX videos I am unaware if their will be an option to turn off your Ridicule and HUD elements, does anyone have any information on this subject?

And if it has not been mentioned can their please be a simple option switch to do so? I enjoy immersing myself into my games and seeing the immediate HUD is a distraction. Thanks in advance.

Reticule you mean? :unsure2:

Unlikely, the best you could hope for would be opacity options, but even then I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Well, I'm pretty sure that you can tweak everything you mentioned when playing on PC. If yoi're going to play on console, you will probably still have a decent amount of HUD customization.

Don't mind me then haha... just the pessimist from past experience, bringing prophecies of doom and gloom.

The HUD and Other things will only appear most of the time when you need it to be seen, i think 'Ammo' HUD will be lit up when you reload.
The Reticule will be the only thing you see most of the time.

Indeed, I remember them saying that the HUD can be configured so unused elements would fade out.

The Reticule will be the only thing you see most of the time.

And the minimap.

Yeah. After a while the HUD elements fade out. http://www.fragworld.org/frag/community-blogs/brink-info-pt-4-controls-hud-and-everything-else.html a bit of information on the HUD and such.

Thanks for the information guys. Even if it's a little glimpse of how most the community will help each other, without hateful remarks then I can honestly say that I cant wait to play BRINK.

Thanks again.

I think the HUD section of the Brink Compendium needs a bit of an update, seeing as there are differences between it and the latest build seen at PAX East.

Hurts? I've read it lots of times a while back. I don't recall it saying anything about only lights can wall-hop.
Sorry, if this is a bit off-topic (wait... on-topic now!).. IS there a smart HUD? Does it flash at the top of the screen like in the commercial airlines telling me to sit down?

Woo, that put a load of my chest, i might switch between medium and light when im Operative.
Even the smallest enemy is deadly when unseen.

Thanks Revo(lution begins 20.05.11. I had to do it)

I hope the let us customize the HUD's like if we want to change the opacity and other stuff.

I thought they removed that because of some reason? Not sure though.

Are you sure about tthis? because all teh VIDs have been played with a meduim character, i think lights will just wall hop faster and longer distances. whhile meduims just kinda pop off the wall.

They literally said that only Lights can do wallhops.

The Expo demos were medium only (except the last one I heard). The Vids on the main site (the one with the SMART showcase) were played with a Light in an early build of the game. Otherwise they couldn't showcase the wallhop.

They can climb on everything up to eye height. They just can't wallhop... not that big of deal. The Lights only advantage is increased mobilty. Don't forget that they have lower health and less weapon choices.

I know but figuring that Meduims are more muscular it would make sense. like a light could go faster and the meduim have more power while the heavy is just to heavy bur can like heave him self up stuff.

doesnt amtter if you cant shoot them cuz their to freaking fast

It does make sense in game terms.

That's the point of the Light. As a Light you're not really supposed to take a heavy head on.

But the heavy should be able to kill the light. ok this in a summary: Lights have access to all parkour moves tha gives it a + 100 advantage cuz example: a heavy is slowly moving through the streets a light comes out of the roof tops and shoots him. the heavy turns and looks but the light is already on the other side. OT: brink 2 wichlist link please?

all body types have the same parkour moves it's just a light will run up the wall and fly over obstacles where as a heavy will roughly jump up at the wall or slowly go over the 3 ft wall he's just not as fast at doing things.

They have the same basic moves like vaulting, sliding, mantling, ... but I thought a wallhop was Light only.
