HUD still looks awkward

Post » Mon Oct 10, 2011 6:27 am

Takes up the entire screen, cannot easily navigate through it and the 3d parts are so worthless/useless/svckS!

Rotating Items is so cool and as displayed in the demo some items have clues to solving quests.

I havent really SEEN the hud yet.
Some stuff shows up...then disappear. Is that normal? Anyone got a pic of the actual hud, not just the demo stuff?
I'd like to contribute to this thread, you know?

No - I said I HOPED you were trolling. I just don't see what's wrong with it, I'm not saying you're a troll for having an opposing opinion.

I do see your points, but I disagree. It looks cool and I don't think it's as ugly as others do.

No it wasn't. Oblivions was easy (apart from the size 789538 font).

Awkward moment when OP is talking about the menus and maps - not the HUD. But I made the mistake too, so whatever.

The HUD (health, magicka, stamina, and compass), is IMO, brilliant. You can toggle the compass off if you're hardcoe - and the health, magicka, and stamina bars disappear if you haven't lost any in awhile. Plus, you have total control of the opacity. Thus I'd argue the HUD = Pretty good.

I quite like the HUD (and the UI). As far as I've heard most of it fades out when not in use. And if not, can be toggled off.

*Reads above post*.

Ah, as mentioned I like the new sleek almost minimalistic design of the UI. It's the little detail, like as you mentioned, being able to rotate objects that I like. I'm sure it's not as bad as yout think. As for the map, there is a running theme with the heavens/ dragon eye view of everything. The map is the closest thing we are going to get to experiencing Skyrim from above. (a la dragons).

In my opinion the HUD, the interface as a whole, and the UI looks great. The fact the map is in 3D is a nice, cool touch. The attribute/stats interface is one of the best I've seen. The inventory and the favorite system looks awesome, and the fact that you can rotate stuff and study it as you please is also a great touch.

I fail to see why you complain over the 3D map, it's a map, and it looks great. If you don't like it, you get a real life map in paper (or in some sort of leather if you pre ordered it)
Rotating objects are for those that really want to immerse themself in the game and want to study the awesomness the game has to offer. If you don't like it, dont use it.
The inventory and skill menu are both great, easy to navigate, and well made. Why shouldn't it take up the entire screen? The game pauses, you don't need to do anything else while browsing through these menu's. Why would you want tiny menu's that just makes it all alot more difficult to navigate?

Basically what I'm saying is that I absolutely disagree with your statements. But you are ofcourse entitled to your opinion

Sounds great! Guess I'm not hardcoe, seeing how I'd be lost easily.

I was against the whole 3D inventory at first...but its okay. Probably very useful for others, not for me though.

Inventory and stats screens aren't the same thing as the Heads Up Display.
(HUD=Health, stamina, magicka bars, compass, crosshair, enemy health bar etc.)
So no, the HUD isn't awkward.
