Human Centipede 2 banned in Britian

Interesting article regarding the sequel to The Human Centipede horror film.

It's not often a film gets banned these days and after reading a detailed sypnosis I understand why it has been banned,
but to be honest do such bans actually achieve anything other than arouse interest in the subject matter?

In the age of the internet, are such bans rather pointless?

What are your views on bans and censorship in the context of the digital age?
