Humble request for a mesh edit

Post » Wed Jan 12, 2011 12:40 am

I'm asking here because I really have no skills for editing meshes. Looking at the Mr. Gutsy model it seems the lower assembly would make a good jet pack if it can be cut out and rigged to a back add-on. It has one lower jet, and two upper jets that I hope could be made to work with the idle sound intact. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it, trying to learn blender makes my head hurt.

Edit: Nevermind. I don't think it will work very well.

That's cool, I think I cut too much off for the smaller jets to work anyway. Got stuck rigging it to the animated flame jets nif and didn't get to finish it.

Ya, i think the jets near the top that are missing being included is what I thought when I looked at him in game (and there is an assembly between them). That actually looks pretty good, and my thought was it was something in the game already so it would fit in well. Another modder looked at it for me and said he just didn't see it.

I started a thread over at nexus also where I posted a link to this model http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=c11227791980bc9dab16f8c4ba9ed578

It's pretty cool you can strip it down like that, I can't figure out blender at all after many attempts. What are your thoughts on Gutsy, is it something that you see working well in game? Main reason I liked is is because it has animations, and sounds that I assume could be toggled using playgroup.

Well after having disected the mesh in Blender piece by piece, it looks to me that the upper jet part assembly is going to be too narrow side to side for that old "lost in space" style jetpack.. with the extended pipes and all. The problem isn't the mesh itself, it's that the animated jet flames nif is fairly complex, having gawked at it for a good long period. I just don't know enough about Nifskope and the nif type in general to be able to say with any confidence that I could adapt the animated flames parts to fit another mesh, or even fit it to the gutsy mesh parts stretched wide so it will work. I speak Blender pretty well, and can retexture just about anything, but the animated nif part of this equation is beyond my skill set I'm afraid.
