If you're using weapons, you need silver or better. Silver, glass, dwarven, ebony, or daedric. Or enchanted, iirc.
Daedra are immune to normal iron and steel weapons.
Found that out with my first character, who went off to explore the Grazelands with her bright shiny new steel armor and weapon. Let's just say it didn't end well, and I still harbor a deep antipathy to ogrims.
but if it is immune to physical damage and all elements, does that mean... it does take 'magica' damage... life steal... etc...
It might, its been a while since I played. [I should probably be scared that I remembered how to get to the Vassar-didanat mine.] You can damage them with weapons, just not the iron or steel ones. Most of my Morrowind characters didn't use much magic. Scrolls and Alchemy, yes. Casting magic, no.
Out of curiosity, have you decided whether you're going to join a House or not?
I never played Televani and I am running Morrowind for the head to toe completion via Mage.. I feel I will join up once I get around level 10.
