Hunted: The Demon's Forge Discussion

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 10:12 am

Since we don't have a new board up for Hunted (yet), wanted to make sure you guys had a thread to discuss the title.

If you haven't read about the game yet, Nick did a http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/03/18/around-the-web-are-you-ready-to-get-hunted-the-video-game/ of coverage after we showed the game in Europe and at GDC...

We'll have more details on the game soon.

This is the one that's been described as fantasy Gears of War?

I read about it on Giant Bomb and I think Game Informer had a bit on it this month (or was it an article on G4? I forget). It looks like it could be fun, and the characters (and their weapons) look impressive (especially the elf-lady's kickass bow). I've read that it won't focus much on gathering/equipping loot - that's kind of a nice break, I'll be able to enjoy the character design (as opposed to a moving suit of armor). I'm cautiously optimistic.

It is using the Unreal Engine...like Gears of War.

Yeah, we got those links added right before we sent the newsletter out. The Bethblog post should have more coverage.

Raises a collective 'meh' from me. Not my cup of tea, that's all. I'm a little bored of the fantasy setting.

But, I think this game could be fun. From my understanding so far, you get to play as either of the two characters. It could be fun to have an AI companion whose AI actually works. It'd also make an awesome couch co-op, like the original Golden Axe game on the Genesis. I'm going to wait for the game reviews before deciding if I'd want the game... but, from what I've seen and read so far, it has piqued my interest.

I too was thinking Golden Axe. I have a stupid question. So the co-op can be 2 people on one console?

Nope.

Featuring two playable characters (a lady elf called E'lara and an uber masculine warrior called Caddoc) that are then utilised for online co-op play and local single-player (no local split-screen), Hunted blends together ranged and melee attacks punctuated by an array of different spells.

Oh, my bad.

Bummer about no local co-op. What I liked about Golden Axe's co-op was that you didn't need split-screen at all.

Still, I guess some co-op is better than no co-op... as long as we don't have to depend on buggy servers or whatever.

Thanks, I didn't want to read any more info about the game. What I read was urging me to play it.

I always picked the Dwarf Axe guy.
