Hunting for Sport

As the title says.

From the available information, and hypothetically speaking, which enemy type do you feel would be your favorite prey? Which creature or machine would you spend time figuring out- their habits, habitats, their abilities, what weapons work best on them- so that you could hunt them down as a recreational activity?

This just occurred to me (and I kind of have to take out the trash right now) so I'll get back to you about mine in a bit.

Along a similar line of thought... Wouldn't it be cool if we could taxidermy said creatures, and place them as decorations in our custom homes?

I was thinking HunterBorn when I saw the title to this thread.

I'm not sure what I'll hunt in the game, kinda hope that we will get to hunt stuff, used to spend quite a bit of time in Skyrim with the camping mods alongside a wildlife overhaul and just bow hunt everything.

Sadly, enemy AI has never been very sophisticated, so the idea of "hunting" never really works. It really comes down to you getting in their line of sight and they attack indiscriminately. That leaves you either using the shooter mechanics or VATS to slaughter your prey. Given BGS has been silent on any improvements to AI sophistication, I'm not optimistic of anything beyond the typical cannon fodder we get in BGS games.

So your thinking there wont be something like SkyTest Realistic Animals type of mod for Fo4? Oh another mod that didn't need a script extender...

Come to think of it a lot of those AI overhauls didn't need a script extender until they started adding MCM menu's...

Anyway, there will likely be people that will re-rig the wildlife package routine in a way that is convincing enough to satisfy some people of this I'm sure.

Well, that's the last of the chores done. And that was quick! I didn't expect people to start responding like, three minutes after the topic was made. :celebration:

Well, that Deathclaw sure did look like it was trying to dodge out of the player's firing line so at least they probably have more sophisticated behavior. But hunting Deathclaws sounds like a late game thing so I'll pass on them for now.

Hmm... maybe Synths will be interesting to fight?

I remember in F3, really loving sniping mirelurks. It was pretty satisfying to hit them in the face and just watch them explode.. inside the shell. Groups of mirelurks were great.. you could make it into a little contest to see if you could snipe them all before they got close to you. They were also especially satsifying to one shot outside of vats..

I hunted super mutants in Fallout 3. The caps were quite bountiful, just me and ol' painless.

Yeah, those Super Mutant overlords were a great source of high end gear.

I usually don't kill things except out of necessity. Of course if I'm playing an insane and evil character I kill anything and everything.

Deathclaws. I've always been fascinated by them. It helps that they are some of the biggest and most dangerous prey I guess.

Please give me my "exploding molerat heads stick" :D Loved Moira's quirky reactions annyway, like telling her to disarm mines by jumping up and down on them.
