Thirded.

Fourthed.

This idea has been going round a bit, and it definately warrants merit in this post. Envision this feature, akin to Red Dead, but as a mobile location, as opposed to the interactive menu John Marsden spent his cold nights in. Several very cool possibilities open up:

-Types of camps. Aesthetics of the tent, what equipment is available, and what you are able to do here.
-Location. How it functions in game, setup/pack down time, once made becomes a permanent establishment till packed away. Perhaps if left alone for too long (abandoned), the camp gets wrecked from the environment, wildlife, bandits, etc... Hence the need to ensure you travel with it.
-New method of resting. Potential to be ambushed at night (!).
-Realistic. Would compliment a 'Survivor Mode' (oft referred to as 'hardcoe' mode), if in particularly hazardous environments, required you to take shelter at camp to weather te worst.
-Inventory. Could (should?) affect inventory capacity. Carrying a big tent, complete with a bundle of firewood, pots, sleeping rug, etc, can be alot.

This would be awesome.

Yes/no?

YES, YES, OH GOD YES! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3N6C8UzhXo&playnext=1&list=PLD938B83A8D4B88E9 I do bow hunting like this guy in Australia, and its a ton of fun. Although i use compound bows rather than recurve.

Better to die in this way than to a bullet or in a slaughterhouse... but damn killing a fox? isn't it just wrong to kill such an awesome animal? i'd worship a fox like a god, but i'd piss on a human.

i'm not one of those animal cruelty freaks who say poking your cat is animal cruelty, i'm not a vegetarian either but... i just like my own species less than any others. we are lower than insects. we kill and eat animals to feel that we're on top of the food chain. isn't that just a superiority complex?

Edit: in the old days people had to kill animals to survive sometimes. but they did so with respect. sheep used to be treated better than humans around some scandinavian countries (mine included) and if one sheep died, every body part was eaten, from the skin to the bones being chewed. (hence the tradition to eat http://www.skrudda.org/Icelandic/thorrablot/hrutspungar.gif and http://catnap.typepad.com/catnap/images/2008/01/25/svid.jpg, i never really put up with sheep heads, but the balls taste more sour and worse than rotten shark thats been buried for 12 weeks)

Good idea maybe not some of the smaller animals though, but I agree shooting a deer in the head while it doesnt now your there, then yelling BOOM HEADSHOT! was kinda fun.

no, the ability to make and do everything yourself

Interactivity = Runescape?

Jeez, zelda ocarina of time had fishing, if Skyrim has fishing will that make it ocarina of time?

Wait, does that make Runescape Zelda Ocarina of time?

OH my god, Fallout had guns in it, does that make it DOOM?

This has all been done with mods for Oblivion. If it's not done in Skyrim by Bethesda, than someone else will do it, trust me.

Well, unless you're a console player.

As long as the animals arn't too "normal". Like who cares if you can hunt an elf, whne you can hunt a giant Irish elk for instance, or a bear compared to a giant short faced bear. Or something unique like Morrowind, give me a giant-badger-lion or something insane like that.

And Woolly Rhino FTW!

Hello guys,

I haven't been on this forum for several years now, but I've just resetted my password so I can add my thoughts to the upcoming Skyrim game which I am so very looking forward to.

The thing I loved the most about Oblivion, but was sorely under-played and under-developed, was the hunting aspect of the game. So that there is no misunderstanding, I'm not talking about killing goblins, ghosts and minotaurs with the bow & arrow from 50 yards while back-peddling through the woods (although I do love doing this), I'm referring to silently hunting and bringing down game animals like deer. Did anyone else here share my interest in crouching, stalking then lineing up the bow above the head of the target and having the arrow arc down landing perfectly on the animal?

Am I alone here in wandering around the beautifully rendered forests of Cyrodiil to hunt down game animals?

Oblivion was painfully cursed with the god-awful level-scaling that broke this aspect of the game as the more you leveled up the scarcer deer become, or any other normal animals for that matter.

I would love to see more types of game animals such as:

Deers (of different types)
Wild Boars
Rabbits/Hares
Grouse/Pheasant/Quail type birds
Geese/Ducks
Mountain Goats
Foxes
Badgers
Elks
the list goes on..................

Having a game world with more animals (that you could hunt) and not just monsters would add to the realism of Skyrim tenfold. Oblivion was limited only to deer but that was still very satisfying, sadly at high level, deer became 'extinct' and were replaced by rampaging minotaurs and trolls. Imagine, now, that you can stalk, hunt, skin and sell the animals you kill in Skyrim. Or even use the animal hides to wear or trade. Imagine the side-quests you could generate from just this aspect of gaming alone. Red Dead Redemption got very close to perfecting this (but still had some flaws), surely Bethesda staff could elaborate on this aspect.

I am not sure if the Developers/Programmers/Designers peruse this forum reguarly, but if you do please don't forget about us hunters and this unique aspect of the Elder Scrolls game.

Thank you for listening

I agree, this is a much-needed thing that Skyrim should have.

In Australia Foxes are a major pest. They kill native species and their offspring. Where i hunt i can get $15 Australian per fox scalp if i bring it to the pest control centre. I hunt Rabbits, Foxes, feral cats, and Goats. Also feral deer around in which case i use a rifle. All introduced species and out-compete the natives.

Edit: Wild boar on occasion too. I eat the Deer and Rabbit, the boar is dangerous to eat unless you know what you're doing.
