I was just wondering if bathing will be in skyrim, or at least the odd bath or tub of water. Would you like these objects or features to be there? Personally, I would. I know its a fantasy realm and such, but its 200 years after oblivion, and surely someone would of realised that everyone stinks and should probebly wash right?

I think hygiene is up there with acts of nature "such as having to use the restroom" in "areas of emulation that I'd rather not see". Even in hardcoe mode (taking a hardcoe dump?) I'm fine with having to eat/drink/sleep, but worrying about my character's hygiene is 1 step too far towards micromanagement.

Musky virile men and ripe ardonic ladies! Baths are for the mundane. In the world of might magic and sentient lizards bathing would be like striping yourself of your most physically aromically appealing features everyday.

I am a strong warrior, the stench of a warlord and the bladder of a titan. I need no hygiene.

It depends on where. Europeans were a bit slow on the learning how to bathe thing, but the Japanese bathed nearly every day by the time the feudal era reared its head.

Taking daily baths wouldn't exactly be the highlights of my affairs in Skyrim.
Perhaps optional hygiene routines like taking a bath could add to the role-playing experience for people who want it.

But just imagine a burly Nord man in a bubble filled tub accompanied by a rubber ducky

Hell, I've done that.

And I'd want toilets before tubs: "Miles of sewers underneath the Imperial city; Not one [censored] toilet in any building."

See the irony in that?

That's an easy one. People in the Imperial City don't need toilets. They just go down to the sewers, squat over, and do their business... hoping a goblin or a vampire won't sneak up on them in the process.

Neither. Ancient Japan is far from feudal Japan and was more of an Ainu-dominated territory and Europe is too vast, really, to compare, as a whole, to Tamriel. Skyrim resembles Scandinavia pretty strongly while High Rock and Cyrodiil seem pretty medieval-renaissance French and British. Hammerfell is pretty similar to the Middle-East and North Africa around the Ayyubid dynasty, what we know of Morrowind through Vvardenfell is arguably an amalgamation of non European cultures such as the Mongols, and a bunch of its own, quirky stuff. Elsweyr has some similarities to the Middle-East stretching to Indian influences but really quite a unique culture of its own, and Valenwood, Summerset Isle, and Black Marsh are just out there with Summerset Isle having some superficial similarities to the far east.

The Norse were very hygenic. When possible they bathed weekly, washed hand before meals, groomed their hair, had razors, tweezers, combs. brushed, and ear cleaners, etc. They had various types of colognes, also.

Some of them even had saunas.

Sibyl, my shaman-in-training would love to have a tub of hot water in which to bathe. If not available, she will use the creek, etc.

Depends on Province
Cyrodiil should resemble antique Greece/Rome (before developers dropped the ball)
And most antique cities had Termas (bathhouses) where people went at least once per week

Skyrim modeled after Scandinavia and Early Russia
Most people washed in sauna at least once per month

As far as I know High Rock was supposed to resemble Europe (more or less)

Apart from the occasional sauna possible Nords think of hygene as a greeting.

It would actually be quite amusing to see the difference between races in this aspect. High Elfs taking a bath three times a day while Orcs wouldn't even know what the inside of a bathroom looks like. But as far as in-game goes, I'm fine with the way it has been. No mention of it and no in-game form of bathrooms.
