hypothetical ideal world realism?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:56 am

as i don't have much to do, i was thinking about the changes that could realistically be implemented in skyrim, for those of us that are wanting the game to be as realistic as possible.
i'm under no delusions these would be implemented, but fun to ponder.

i came up with:
Bathing, inspired by http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1183425-bathing/
Coins having weight, inspired by http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1183383-gold-has-weight/
permanent effects of injuries. (e.g. get struck in leg with arrow, permanent reduction to movement speed)
need to eat
need to drink
common diseases
need to sleep
realistic weapon costs. (have you ever tried making a longsword?)
nudity
scarring (perhaps difficult to do...)
real healing rates
injuries (inc. bleeding)

okay, i had more, but i've forgotten them...
so, what else do you think would be possible to implement, and what impact would it have on the game? (for example, all my ideas together would make it just, unplayable.)

once again, i'd like to say, i don't expect, or want this to impact the development of the game in any way.

EDIT:
By 'ideal world realism', i mean if it wouldn't hinder development, and could feasibly be implemented, but not necessarily in the current 6 1/2 month time frame, ie, being developed in an ideal world..

Some of those sit well with me, while others don't. The most absurd is bathing though.

That stuff sounds good for a hardcoe mode.

I wouldn't touch it, but to each his own.

I've never heard of being able to see the pulse of very muscular people but I don't see many of them, otherwise I be down for most of them except bathing
I mean having dirt appear in clothes and stuff and then washed off by rain/entering water but not actually having to bathe to stop peole pointing out you are dirty and reek like week old mudcrab meat

I'd like to have a decent drinking animation if I'm using ale (or whatever) when sitting at a table. I thought it could be a nice way of overhearing rumours rather than just asking people, although both ways could work. I guess it's the sort of thing to wait for a mods to handle though.

I don't care for most of those ideas and I think in general people who play the game would be annoying by that stuff. With that said though, there is a group of players who like this sort of thing, hardcoe mode using this stuff you be for them.

I usually enjoy realism in games but some of those are just to much in my opinion.

while we're at it why don't we just add going to the bathroom? :hubbahubba:

Bathing,
Maybe

Coins having weight,
Again, maybe.

permanent effects of injuries,
Temporary, yes. Permanent, No.

need to sleep
need to eat
need to drink,
These together as a toggle IF implemented.

common diseases,
Sure why not?

realistic weapon costs,
Higher Prices to buy, lower when selling. I think that they are already changing the system though.

nudity,
Sure I don't have a problem with it I guess. But it should probably be toggle able.

scarring,
Maybe.

real healing rates,
But then what about Restoration Magic and potions? It would make them partially useless.

injuries.
Again, if temporary.

Just what I think. Mostly I am pretty indifferent.

I'm okay with anything as long as I have the option to turn it off or ignore it.

I can't imagine myself wanting to bathe or eat but I see the appeal for others if they so choose. I love RPing myself so I might even try it out.
