Please, no. I'm not a big fan of mini games. Why? Because I saw what happened to major platform game series like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon once minigames were introduced. Suddenly, you go from, "The world is in danger, so you must run, jump, glide, etc. through these exotic lands and collect crystals, gems, etc" to "The world is in danger, so you must play hockey and drive tanks to collect crystals, gems, etc."
I realize that the old-time platform games were never meant to be serious or realistic (they were mostly for kids, but I like to replay those old games from time to time), but they were still ruined when they became 40-50% mini game. Likewise, the same could happen to RPG's too. It may just happen in a different way. We may not be driving tanks, but over time, we might see more and more mini games overtake the core game play to the point where RPG nerds like me suddenly have to play racing and sports games. If I wanted to race, play hockey, etc, I'd play THOSE games, not an RPG.
I'm in the small minority of people who dislike the lock picking mini game from Oblivion. I'm terrible with twitch-based game play, and the auto-pick option often forced you to fail 90% of the time, even with a 100 security skill.
