An Idea for a Mod

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 5:31 am

Would it be possible to have the items you have hot keyed show up on your character? For instance, say you had an iron bow, an iron dagger, and an iron claymore in your hot keys, would it be possible to have all of those appear on you?
Obviously, you would have to have some limitations, so you couldn't have 8 claymores on your back. But I think it would be awesome to play a barbarian and have 2 crossed claymores on your back, or to play a jack of all trades type character and have your equipment appear on you.

I doubt this would be possible, but it would be amazing if you could do this with items too. Imagine, playing an assassin and having poisons at your waist, or having a hot keyed torch actually appear on your body?

Again, I doubt these things would be possible (perhaps in Skyrim?), but I thought this was a cool idea, that is, if someone hasn't thought of it/tried it before.

The only way I can think of this working, based on my understanding of equip slots and limitations thereof, is having custom meshes for each combination of items you want on your person, that would then be applied to the tail slot or whatever. It being impossible to generate meshes dynamically for that purpose, though, I don't see it being a feasible mod. Hopefully someone can correct me, though.

I've been out of the loop for a while, but if nifse ever gets to tthe point where it can copy meshes into each other then a mod may come out like that.....till then it impossible.

I'm guessing that's a custom mesh on the tail slot, because if it was possible to add an indefinite number of equip slots on a character I imagine we'd have heard about it by now and mods wouldn't be forced to implement special equipment via the tail slot all the time.

(I really want someone to tell my I'm wrong, hehe)

Well, it's actually kind of a sloppy way I did it, but basically I just added the extra weapon meshes to one sword as "scabbards." You have to do that for each weapon you have though so that when you switch them, they won't disappear. The belt and harness you see on the armor though has a couple daggers already on it, along with that steel short sword you see on the back. That's bascially just an armor piece that takes up the amulet slot (incidently, that is one of my available mods to download). That belt being an armor piece also brings up the other way you can manage to have a multiple weapon image on yourself. Armor. Simply load up an armor piece, such as a chest plate, in a mesh editor, such as Blender, and attach the weapons to the armor. In this way, the weapon meshes are now considered a piece of the armor. I personally prefer the 'scabbard" method as it allows more variability when you switch weapons, which will switch what weapon meshes are considered scabbards. In other words, it gives you the feeling that your sheathing one weapon, and unsheathing the other. The "armor" way doesn't allow such switching unless you switch armors.

Keep in mind that doing this (the right way and not sloppily like I did, which you can't tell in that screenie), takes a considerable amount of time and patience, depending on how many weapons you add to your "scabbard" or armor.

Edit: Your wong Palidoo  , sort of, but not totally off track.

Da Mage's Fast Equipping is the closest you can come. That allows you to switch between sets of clothing/armor.

I'm pretty sure you can also find it on TESAlliance.
