An idea for the queer players (or queer PCs)

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:09 am

If you, like myself, want to play a homosixual character here's a bit of creative interpretation of the PCs family for you.

Perhaps, the couple seen in the trailer who you play one half of are NOT actually married. They could infact be in-law siblings who became close friends, having met through their married siblings. As for the baby, s/he is the child of that couple and not the PC couple, but has some resemblence to the PC couple through their brother and sister. As for the baby's real parents, they caught New Plague and had to be put under quarantine. However the baby was tested and found negative for New Plague and so was put in the care of their next of kin, who were also chosen because of their proximity to a Vault. Here's a family tree to help.

Fem!PC - Baby mummy = Baby daddy - Guy!PC
_____________________\ ____ /
______________________Baby

And then Fem!PC and Guy!PC adopt Baby after his/her parents catch New Plague.

Now I'm not suggesting this is how it will be written, I'm just suggesting a bit of creativity for the benefit of us gamers who want to play this game badly but as a homosixual PC. Sound good to anyone else?

Ok before this thread gets closed like the jaws of oblivion you could just say that the PC married the NPC so that society persumed they were hetrosixual.

Yip, closet works much better and seems much less convoluted.

As for these threads being repetitive, sure but they're also indicative that a not insubstantial amount of players find something problematic.

Or that people don't take a unique attempt at a creation menu at face value and assume it's some kind of anit-gay move by Bethesda.

You know, I was one of the ones who felt strongly about this. Perhaps we should just trust Bethesda about this.

Howard said, "This is an enormous dynamic world where you can create any kind of character you want, go where you want, and do what you want." Maybe we should just trust what he says is true.

I don't care about any of this that much even though I myself am male and have six with other males, but the problem with that concept is that it's a character trait forced on you if you have to invent that reality to explain the situation away. Maybe you want a character who doesn't compromise himself in such a way. Maybe if you are willing to stretch your imagination beyond the confines of the game it works, personally I'll be playing a straight character. It doesn't matter to me if gays aren't represented by the protagonist this time.

That's just too rational. Any Pre-Release forum pulls this crap. One person complains about X, everyone turns their head and starts complaining about X instead of saying "Hey, we don't know about the game yet, let's just wait and see how Bethesda handles this first."

Without an alternative start mod realistically there's very few backgrounds you can create for your PC that fit within the confines of the vanilla story.

I won't lie I am one of those people but the more I think about it, who am I to question Bethesda? They let you be gay in Skyrim, there is no reason why they would exclude gays in future games. I trust that they will have us covered in one form or another.

Even if not, and my character is indeed straight, I also trust that Bethesda will give us a compelling story that will make it worth it.

I'll pretend that the Pre-War intro is just another simulation - and the husband and wife are actually a lisbian couple IRL but not in the simulation.
