Except you can use the transitus network and never have the leave the safety of a keep, if that's what you're after.

cyrodil is a pvp zone , if your going there to PvE i suggest staying in your factions zone of control (if you do not want to PvP) and stay clear of the front line. you may still get ganked but the possibilities would be slim if your not at the front lines.
First of all, the gathering materials in Cyrodiil are mid level. Cyrodiil's gathering materials are equivalent to Bangkorai, Reaper's March and The Rift. The absolute highest grade materials are found in veteran zones, which are, yep, PvE only.
Second of all, guild stores are housed in keeps and resources which you can simply teleport into, speak with the quartermaster, and then immediately leave without ever having to ever see another enemy player.
Not true. You can access your own guilds' store (any of your 5 guilds) from any bank. Cyrodiil is only if you want to shop at a guild store to which you do not belong.
But if you wanna go to a guild store in Cyrodiil you just teleport to the keep, do your trade then teleport out. Or in case that the keep is being attacked, just get yourself killed. You dont loose anything, instead you gain some time by leaving faster and teleporting to the entrance .
This is false and needs to be squashed.
Guild stores and banks are accessible by all players in that guild, from any NPC bank vendor in the world. You do not have to travel into a PVP zone to shop, just be part of the guild.
To shop the stores of other guilds that you refuse to join, they would have to own a keep in Cyrodill and you would have to visit said keep. This involves being PvP enabled, but due to the transit network, you can fast travel directly to the keep and back, avoiding 99% of all chance of PvP.
Honestly even if it got me no points I'd kill PVErs anyway. I just like murdering people, and if they are going to go to such great lengths to say "I'm not a target, please ignore me" I will go out of my way to kill them.
Obviously I only speak for myself, not the entire PVP community, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to curbstomp carebears.
All the posturing doesn't matter. This game has a huge base of TES players who have many interests in the game other than pvp. It shouldn't take long before the "I live and die for pvp" types get bored pvping alone and move on to the next shiny thing. They always do, you can tell by the constant babble in mmo chat about the next great pvp game just down the pipe, and more importantly, ESO isn't f2p.
Okay thank you for the (mostly) sensible comments. I guess that my experiences with PKs have warped my views perhaps unfairly towards PVPers.
From my experience of MMORPGs I find that about 30% of PVPers are serious and honourable but the other 70% are the would be and will do gankers and usually these are young immature types. My fault is that I project into my games my real world experiences of death, famine, murder. & [censored] and I find it difficult to kill a PC if there is a human hand behind him. I wont bore you all with the details but having seen hundreds of often decomposing bodies makes the thought of killing seem quite revolting. My husband has had to kill numerous humans in RL but all of them started it and he has no such qualms but even then he cannot start a fight and avoids PVP. My son is typical of his age and generation but at least I know he will not gank as his guild seem to be well organised (he wont tell me which one as I embarrass him).
I take the point: enter Cyrodil at your own risk. Pax vobiscum.
Being a PvPer, I've always disliked the 'anti-carebears' as much as I've despised the players who think that they are entitled to be left alone and mechanics need to be changed to fit them. Both sides go out of their way to ruin the gameplay of others, and both do it purely with selfish intent.
It's so hard in games like this to argue for PvP zones, because the hateful anti-carebear crowd only give the anti-pvp crowd more ammo. And I've been a pirate in EvE online for six years now, killing unarmed transport ships for profit.
???????????????????
First Cyrodill is the games PvP area, if you are totally phobic of PvP why would you go there? Second why do you feel there needs to be some PvE fix to Cyrodill? In other words why do you feel entitled to this?
If you die because you made the choice to go to cyrodill(yes its a choice) then the person who killed you gets xp deservedly so.
This is pretty much right, now like wintergrasp the zone has some benefits even for PvE players, in WOW you could use it to grind points to buy armor you could also use it to save up points to buy level 85 ready to raid level gear.
You can not be ganked in Cyrodil unless you see uplifted to 50 against high level veteran player as ganking. Another benefit of Cyrodil is that you don't have to return to your body. This is an definite benefit in PvP as it make corpse camping impossible, sometimes other used it for griefing, other times the enemy was an decent guy who was just grinding in the area and you would kill you again for points.
Now if you want to gather crafting materials the area between you keeps are as safe or safer than the leveling areas. Cyrodil is large chance of running into enemy players are small. Last try out PvP Im an pve player myself but enjoyed it.
What if bored PvErs are the first to leave and PvPers will keep the game alive?
Because to satisfy PvPers you need a balanced game, to satisfy PvErs you need "content" every two weeks.
My experience has seen a very loyal PvP fanbase, and the almost constant rotation of PvE players looking for the holy grail of 'smart and intelligent' AI, great loot and easy gaming all combined into one.
Not saying either of us is right or wrong, just that it's funny how a players perceptions can influence what they pay attention to. I've always thought that PvE-only players were some of the most wishy-washy fanbase in any game, gobbling content and riding away in three months.
The real core of a game that will stick with it? Honestly?
Roleplayers. They play for the lore above anything else.
As long as Cyrodil isn't forced on me stupidly, what you say is exactly what i intend to do. I will give that terrible place a wide birth.
PvP worries me when balancing gets added, i've seen it in every game if they do not separate the two one gets insanely nerfed which makes players ultimately leave, i've seen it in every mmo with the two added, PvP balance kills PvE over time.
I would hate to burst your bubble but lets look at facts instead of your non verifiable conjecture...
Daoc....similar style PvP was it the PvE players that kept that game alive or the loyal PvP players? hmm tough one oh wait yeah the PvPer for sure.
WarHammer -RvR zone...yes the RvR zone kept that game alive for as long as it was.
Point being is the PvP players will continue to enjoy the RvR area much longer then you guys will enjoy the PvE content even when they get on a consistent development cycle once you PvErs run through you new content some will unsub and wait for new content.
PvE gets balanced too, over time.
EvE online has the absolute worst PvE I've ever seen in any game.
Over 10 years running, more subs every year than the year before, and the company is expanding the game into a single shard shared with console FPS's and soon virtual reality headset flight simulators. They just released their companies projected development cycle for the next 10 years. Yes, they are planning on being here in the next 10 years.
I'm not huge on PvP but it's a PvP area, so everyone who enters knows what they are in for. There is plenty of PvE content for this game from what i've heard.
You're a good man, Charlie Brown.
As you have heard multiple times already, if you enter you do so at your own risk. If you want the mats found there, get a friend/guildie to get them for you., like Arkade said.
Translation: "Someone pay attention to me!"
I have been a PK hunter since old UO, I live to protect PvE players from gankers and munchkins. If I were to express the full measure of contempt I have for people who want to kill weaker characters or kill people who do not want to participate in PvP I would be banned from the forum permanently.
WOW YOU GOT TO BE JOKING ME!!! Don't go to cryodiil if you don't want to be ganked.
My idea to make everyone happy is to stop trying to make everyone happy... You can't, so why try....
Cyrodiil is a dedicated pvp zone. Red is dead, end of story.
Sorry, as much as I hate gankers, Cyrodil is THE PVP ZONE. If you go there you can be killed by enemy players. You have the rest of the world to PvE in, don't be greedy.
