{Idea} Mob Mentality.

Remember those caves full of zombies, goblins, bandits, and skeletons. Totally kick your ass because every single monster hits you at the same time, and there just so happens they're are 30 of them? Well this could be fixed and give combat a cool strategic feel. And mages with AoE spells can still do what they do.

I propose a mode that lets you fight many enemies at once, but only 2-3 engage in combat. Think a new behavior before the combat. The monsters check how many enemies are around the player/target, if their are more than 4 engaging the player in close combat, the enemy stays close and waits until an opening when another dies or the player is killed. This gives combat players some crowd control when fighting many enemies, and also keep it relentless and visceral. This , if possible, should not effect bowmen and wizards that throw spells.

Cool features that should be added, is that if the player engages a monster that is in the waiting mode, the hit creature engages in combat, and one of the other combat engaged creatures retreats back into waiting mode and heals or does whatever. Also, that enemies be able to hit their friends, I mean, it happens. It should have the three strike rule we have with summons (Or less depending on Intelligence.). If the dude with the war-hammer hits the guy with the long sword 3 times, obviously he wants to fight him.

I think this would expand close combat without making new moves, and weapons and player "Skills" one has to learn.

There are rarely situations where you can get swarmed by anything but bestial creatures.. and frankly they're not that clever. A goblin doesn't care how many of its friends are beating you up, it wants some action too.

I like the idea of enemies healing each other though, that would add a little more tactic into even the most basic fights.
