An idea regarding XP

Im liking a more kills less xp thing. Combine it with the closer the objective the more exp, it'll really make killing less priority imo.

Yes but with the masses being 1337 no joke no scopers, screaming 12 year olds that sound like alvin and the chipmunks, and other general idiots, what do you expect?

I expect the "no joke no scopers, screaming 12 years olds, and other general idots" to find out that this is not their type of game. All they go for is kills to brag to all of their friends and oh no this game possibly may not keep track of that stat. One group of those twelve year olds will be like, "This game stinks, I am just going to play _____" while the other group will go for the max amount of points to level up and brag to their friends how skillful they are at this game. Whatever happens, just hope that the first group of people will leave within the first week leaving everyone else to play with people who play the game the way it is meant to be played.

I don't think this game will have to many lone wolfs or KDR players cause by the time it comes out all the KDR shooters games will be released. Unless they get bored of those games and get Brink. If they do invade Brink all of us Objective-based players have to stay together please. I promised i would never but another shooter after Modern Warfare 2 because it made me sick, lol when i hear someone talking about Black Ops i feel like kicking them in their nuts then making them swallow the COD game disk... (WTF was that) Seriously though we have to stick together and once they notice that it's more fun to work as a team they just might do it to. Brink is my last hope for a quality Objective/Team- based shooter.

Hey all. I have to admit that I just found out about this game. And I will also admit that i didn't read through every single post in this topic, but i absolutely glanced at it as a whole..
If anyone is interested, here is my take. First off, I would like to say I voted NO. And here is my reason why:
Brink Is a First Person Shooter WITH OBJECTIVES. XP is the most important score tracking method because there is more to do than just kill an enemy. There are objectives. The concept of having stats tracked with kill to death ratios is fine if the only goal is to kill others. But that just doesn't float when there are objectives present. There would be absolutely no point to have a high kill to death ratio with objectives because of what the results of a match could be. I am imagining a scoreboard at the end of a match that has:

player 1: 0 objectives completed, k/d ratio 10/3
player 2: 5 objectives completed, k/d ratio 1/5
player 3: 3 objectives completed, k/d ratio 2/5

all while having player 1 at the top of the leaderboards. Seriously, who had the more difficult job?

XP is essential and should be handled as was previously suggested, total xp divided by number of kills.

There would be absolutely no skill involved for the dude camping out in a corner with a sniper rifle aimed at the spot of an objective. One thing that kills me is the idea of a good game being dumbed down in a fashion like MAG was. It started out as an absolutely fantastic team oriented shooter. Then as more and more players adopted the game, the guys at zipper decided to make it more kill-em-all like and all of a sudden there were maps that are released where a sniper can sit in a corner, not helping the team, not listening to a squad leaders orders, not doing anything but shooting guys in the head and end up on the top of the leaderboard, even though the team lost the match. And all of a sudden a kick ass, team oriented, objective based game is dumbed down and we have 500 snipers and one guy running around trying to complete an objective, finishing the game with a score of -5000! Not to mention the double XP [censored] that they do now...

Not that Brink is going to be to the caliber of MAG. But still; ..."important safety tip, thanks Eagon"

Im pretty sure the scoreboard would look like this.

player 2: 5 objectives completed, k/d ratio 1/5
player 3: 3 objectives completed, k/d ratio 2/5
player 1: 0 objectives completed, k/d ratio 10/3

AFAIK, your stats are going to be shown each game, but there are no persistant stats, at least not for things like KDR.

If stats are absolutely mandatory for certain people, I should think that a simple W/L percentage would suffice. A good team player will tend to make his team win more, a lone wolf kill-focused player will not help his team nearly as much.

I agree with you XShadowcat I don't think their should be a KDR or Exp per kill it should just be how many wins and losses you have. They could have something like Exp per Death I think is more accurate then Exp per kill or KDR. I'm glad their are no leaderboards and KDR should not be displayed at all not in personal stats, after a game match, or when a player presses the button that shows the current score of each player during a match only Exp should be displayed. Then again we will have to wait and see how it all turns out.

Nope. It encourages team hopping, which is apparently possible.
