An idea...

Maybe in Skyrim, each city has multiple houses for sale of different size and quality (like lower, middle, and upper class houses).

I remember loving the huge, upper-class houses in Leyawiin, but the only house you could buy there was pretty low class. I wanted one of the big shiny ones!!!

Anyways, thoughts?

While I like the idea of owning property, I don't like the idea of over abundance.

I have to agree that I'm not real keen on an over abundance. My personal preference would be to build a stronghold like in Morrowind. It was so much more satisfying than buying a house in Oblivion. You had to work for each phase and were quite nice when finished.

I'm always for new houses, just wish they had a rent, load, bank system and tenants and such.

But that to much detail for a a part of the game where your out adventuring sadly.

One house per town is fine, no need to go all "Sim Real Estate Mogul" there. But- two or three estate options outside towns, now we're talking. Say, an abandoned estate (walled keep type, out in the wilderness, obtained in a way similar to Benirus Manor- as in, quest reward), a "live" estate one can somehow take over, and then a "build your own" option along the lines of the Great House estates from Morrowind. Personally I also wouldn't mind a lockout- getting any one of the three keeps you from getting either of the other two. Could be done via factions, or any number of possible other means.
