RP idea: The Frontier.

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:14 pm

I'll get to work on creating a character sheet. What else is there to clear up before we post the sign-up thread?
Well I did wanted to flesh out the land to full detail at first. But I realized to atleast start a sign up thread soon I would have to add the detail as the RP progresses.

Now here is a list I want to get done before a sign up thread is to be made:

1) A reason why there is high tensions between the factions. However it should be easy as the colony forced the Orcs and Nordic tribes out of much land causing those tribes to have a bitter hatred to the colony. And the bretons and Dark elves normaly keep to themselves. All we need to do is make a reason why the Orcs and Nords are at war with eachother.

2) How the cities in the colony look: Again pretty easy as there is a video by how Anvil Nova looks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_2I_cJVS4k So we could just make it where the other cities in the colony look similar.

3) Orcish settlements: Pretty easy as the I picture their villages to be like the strongholds in Skyrim.

4) Nordic villages: I personally picture them to be like the villages in Skyrim.

5) Breton settlements: this is where I have trouble. So let's see what you two and everyone else who is reading this thinks.

6) Dunmer towns. I expect them to be like an Orcish stronghold except modified to fit the Dunmeri Culture. However I want to know what you think.

7) finding a solution to how to keep the character interaction happening often with a world too big.

8)Whatever you and Magus think that should be brought up.

After were done this list we'll start with a sign up thread.

1. Perhaps some rare artifact(s) or material that is unobtainable in Tamriel

2.seems to be already solved

3.solved

4.solved

5.hmm this one is a toughy. I never played Daggerfall so I wouldn't even know where to start.

6. maybe more run down than the other settlements.

7. Something pertaining to my first point.

8. I could be a co GM if you want but that is up to you.

thoughts?

1) good idea but mix it up with culture differences?

2)Agree

3)Agree

4)agree

5) agree, we should ask someone that played Daggerfall and take some of Prisoner 6's ideas about them being based of the Franks.\\

6: I'm fine with this, as long as it still has some sort of Dunmer culture from Morrowind.

7: I'll look into that point again.

8) I still have room for two more co GMs (though I would be fine with the two I have) so if you want to be one then you got the job.

It seems like a fertile corner of Atmora more than anything.

Well the thing is it's not. Otherwise it would be Exactly North of Skyrim, the Frontier is Northwest of HIgh Rock. Though I guess it could be possible that Atmora is a damn large landmass and the frontier is one of the few fertile places left. However chances are that's unlikely.

I was thinking the rare material would be located in areas where the settlements are. Leading to animosity and conflict between the settlers and treasure hunters/other settlements.

Interesting. And maybe the Orcs, Nords, and the colony are a fighting a 3 way war over these resources? I mean i'm sure the governor needs these resources for his government to survive.

Exactly. And meanwhile the imperial and or Aldmeri Dominion are also trying to get their hands on said material.

Pretty good. That could also explains why the colony is thriving. Now what could these resources be?

Ebony is pretty rare at the homefront. And the empire would use these to possibly have their solders more equiped with Ebony material to fight an upcoming war with the Dominion. Same thing for the Dominion. Maybe both Vast amounts of Ebony and some of the made up resources.

How about if the Frontier had its equivalent of Tamriel's Blackreach? Filled with Ebony, and signs of a sinister secret that could shake the foundations of all of Nirn....

(I said that in a movie trailer voice)

Of course I do like the idea of a blackreach but it should be different then the one in Skyrim. As for the sinister secret it could be there but should be discovered a while after the RP started.

I'm sure we could find a way to make it unique.

Obviously if there will be a dark secret it will be more aong the lines of Dagoth Ur (but more unique) then a typical eveil guy cliche. Now what do you think about having VAST amounts of Ebony?

Good however Ebony seems rather cliche to me we should have The crystal formations that the Ayleids used that could also explain the reason the dominion is there.

Well I guess we could have both sources of Ebony and the Alyeid stone material.. Now I need Prisoner 6's opinion on the resources.

Ayleids were only in Cyrodiil. Their name means Heartland High Elves, so they wouldn't be anywhere near the Frontier. Perhaps we could have an unrefined version of the material in question, and once further study and comparison to samples from Cyrodiil have been made, the true potential is realised and the Dominion becomes more aggresive in an attempt to secure the sources.

That would make more sense. The thalmor bought land in the frontier because they want control of the vast amounts of Ebony. (Isn't it the material required to make Elven Armor?) as well as to see if Rumors of unrefined that material the Aylied uses. And eventuallly found out there is plenty of both resources making the Dominion on planning to control the Colony. Using the thalmor political tactic .

Quicksilver and refined moonstone is required to make elven armour. But ebony is still a very rare material and if the Aldmeri Dominion had a monoply on it, then they could loads of money from it. Likewise, it would be another reason for the Empire to get involved. After their war, having control of rare materials would be a great way to recover economicallly.

This does make sense. I guess we could have Ebony being the main resources in the frontier. Allright since the majority of the GMs (We have a new one incase you don't know) I think we can have Ebony being the main resource in the frontier. Unless Magus have something to say.
